“And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself… And they said to one another, ‘Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?’” Luke 24: 27, 32 On Saturday, 23 March, we held our second FIRE preaching workshop for this year. We hosted 40 people, including some of our Missionary interns. I was particularly blessed to see how many of the participants had come to previous workshops and were returning to continue growing in their knowledge of the Scriptures. It was also encouraging to hear that some are already implementing what they have learned from previous workshops that we have run. One thing that marks all the workshops is that the people truly enjoy themselves. They come to learn and they are excited by the Word of God. During our presentations, they constantly smile, nod and gladly affirm what they are receiving. We have many questions and discussions. And at the end of it all, people are always asking: “When is the next one?”. This particular workshop focussed on preaching from the Historic books of the Old Testament, with a particular focus on the book of Judges. Our programme consisted of six presentations and practical activities: Judges Bible Survey Overview; Judges in Redemptive History; Exegeting Narratives; Preaching on the Life of Samson; Exegetical Practical; Sermon Preparation. When asked “in what way did you benefit from the workshop”, written responses included: “I have renewed passion to serve Him more; How to structure and prepare a sermon; learnt how to put a sermon together; in depth learning on the Judges; I was able to preach my first message with a better understanding of God’s Word; Got to grips with sermon preparation; I learned a lot about the Book of Judges I never heard before; I have learned how to read the Bible in context; Better understanding of reading the Text; I can now take the knowledge and understanding to my own local church.” Many other answers were similar. The overwhelming response was that people now knew how to read and preach the Bible. That is exactly what we run these workshops for. Praise the Lord! Those who came were awarded Biblical Preaching Handbooks, Bible Dictionaries, Bible Handbooks, Commentaries, Word Studies, Devotionals, Puritan Sermons, Newsletters and Tracts. Some received Study Bibles and other resources to better equip them for their ministries. Please keep your eyes open for the audios from Saturday’s workshop on Frontline’s sermonaudio. You can also find presentations from previous workshops there. Video footage will be uploaded onto our vimeo account. PowerPoint presentations will be uploaded onto slide share. The next workshop we plan to run is a Muslim Evangelism Workshop on the 13th April. After that is a Back to the Bible Conference on the 24th May. Please diarise and keep these events in your prayers and feel free to attend if you are able. For His Glory John Clifford Frontline Fellowship P.O.
