Dear Friends

If I did not believe in Divine intervention, I would simply be speechless at the way in which my recently spent time in Europe played out. The fact that the dates all coincided with one another, the fact that I was able to participate in so many different events, paddle the Vogalonga in Venice, paddle with the Vienna Pink Dragons on the Danube, my time with family, childhood friends and seeing two of our children graduate from Spring School at the Tauernhof all made for a most blessed three weeks.

“…Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord?

Therefore the wrath of the Lord is upon you.” 2 Chronicles 19:2

What is Terrorism?
Webster’s Dictionary of the English language (1828), defines Terrorism as: “The use of violence and threats to intimidate, or coerce, for political purposes.”

Jihad in England
The spate of Islamic terrorist attacks in Great Britain this year, including the high profile, 22 March Westminster attack, where Khalid Masood drove a vehicle into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before crashing into the Palace of Westminster perimeter and fatally stabbed a police officer; the Manchester Arena bombing, 22 May, where a suicide bomber killed 22 people and injured another 120; and now the London attacks of Saturday, 3 June, when a van drove at speed across London Bridge deliberately ploughing over groups of people, then the occupants ran into Borough Market where they stabbed many people, before all three terrorists were shot dead by the police. The London Bridge attackers have been identified by the police as: Khuram Shagad Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youssef Zaghba.

HISTORIC ROOTS of TERRORISM

29/6/2017

Picture
While some trace the history of terrorism to the Sicarii Zealots in 1st century Judea, the term terrorism was originally used to describe the actions of the Jacobins during the Reign of Terror in the French Revolution (1789-1793). Maximilien Robespierre advocated terrorism as a tool of the Revolution. In 1795 Edmund Burke denounced the French Revolutionary Jacobins for letting “thousands of those hell-hounds called terrorists… loose on the people of France.” Anarchists in Russia targeted and assassinated leaders for “armed propaganda.” The Irish Republican Brotherhood, founded in 1858, initiated bombing campaigns to achieve their political aims.

THROUGH FIRE and STORM

Dear Friends

Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.” Isaiah 43:2
Cape of Storms
Cape Town is the only city in the world that sits astride two oceans. With the warm Indian Ocean and the Cold Atlantic meeting at Cape Point, our part of the world has long been known as the Cape of Storms. That was not particularly good for tourism so it was renamed the Cape of Good Hope. On 6th June, we were warned that a severe storm with anticipated wind speeds of up to 120km/hr would hit later that night. For the first time in my lifetime, all schools in the Cape Peninsula were ordered closed the next day, Wednesday 7 June, in anticipation of the severe storm.

"I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His Kingdom: Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching." 2 Timothy 4:1-2

Duties and Responsibilities
Chaplains’ have many serious and solemn duties and responsibilities. Chaplains are responsible for the Spiritual well-being of all in their unit. In the army, the chaplain is the pastor of the soldiers, non-commissioned officers and the officers, of all ranks. In the police, a chaplain cares for all the officers and constables. A prison chaplain cares not only for the prisoners, but also for the wardens. Hospital chaplains are responsible for the spiritual care for the patients and also of the medical staff. In addition, chaplains are frequently called upon to care for the families and relatives of those they are primarily responsible for.

“You will be punished by the Lord of Hosts with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with storm and tempest and the flame of devouring fire.” Isaiah 29:6

Ending a long and devastating drought, the severe storm that hit the Cape Peninsula Tuesday night, 6 June, into Wednesday morning, 7 June, uprooted trees, blew off rooves, brought down electricity pylons, causing fire and damage to large sections of Cape Town and surrounding areas.

have visited the
Creation Museum
since it opened
An Extraordinary Experience
The Creation Museum near Cincinnati in the United States is absolutely magnificent. Shortly after it opened, I spent two days exploring, examining and experiencing the Bible-affirming Creation Museum. It was not nearly enough time. I enjoyed visiting it again this month and exploring its new exhibits.

MISSION to AMERICA

Dear Friends

Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His Name; make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing Psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy Name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord! Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore! Remember His marvellous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,” 1 Chronicles 16:8-12

Working for Reformation Today
This was my fourth Mission in four months. We have been promoting 2017 as Reformation 500 for many years, actually, since my Mission to Europe in 2005, so it is understandable that we have received many invitations to conduct Reformation 500 conferences in so many countries.

"And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
