“O Lord my God, I cried out to You and You healed me.” Psalm 30:2
This Sunday morning, I was reviewing my sermon notes to complete the last of a new series on The Ten Commandments: God's Perfect Law of Liberty, when acute back pain came on suddenly and kept increasing in unbearable intensity. My initial thought, that I must have overdone it at the gym on Saturday, was quickly dismissed as I recognised the symptoms. Acute lower back pain and an overwhelming nausea had me running to the bathroom, expecting to throw up any moment. Soon there was no doubt, I was experiencing an eruption of kidney stones.
Reaching Muslims for Christ
By God's grace, Pastors travelled from far and wide to participate in the Reaching Muslims for Christ Seminar in the Transvaal. Petra organised and hosted this seminar and 7 of their Pastors and Evangelists from Zimbabwe and 9 from Zambia travelled in to participate in this Muslim Evangelism Programme. The question and answer times were vibrant and there was tremendous interest in the book table. Large quantities of literature were distributed and many new contacts made amongst the over one hundred participants.
I recently read somewhere that time is not something that you can see, but is something that can only be represented by change. The sun rises and sets, just to do the same thing again, and again, and again. Time truly is not something that can be seen but is felt.
Friends, more than ever, I feel the passing of time. It is the way our son’s words have developed into almost coherent nouns and adjectives, and through the simple observation of our friends’ families growing in numbers every year. I feel it as the thermometer that marks the temperatures outside rises daily as we experience yet another brutally hot summer in Phoenix. I can also palpably feel the presence and passing of time as I turn the pages on my calendar that move closer and closer to 2017’s end, when our little family anticipates moving across the Atlantic to reside in my beloved hometown of Cape Town, South Africa.
By God's grace, I have just returned from conducting a Reaching Muslims for Christ Seminar in the Transvaal this weekend.
Pastors & Evangelists travelled from Zimbabwe & Zambia
for the Seminar.
It was my privilege to learn from veteran missionaries to Muslims, Gerhard Nehls of Life Challenge Africa and Walter Gschwandtner of SIM. This involved praying early every Saturday morning with Walter for Muslims to come to Christ and weekly door-to-door Evangelism in the Malay Quarter with Gerhard Nehls.
