YOUR ARTICLE ON THE TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST WAS TOO NEGATIVE. IT MADE ME UNEASY AND FEEL THREATENED. I BELIEVE GOD IS IN CONTROL OF THESE THINGS.
The Lord Jesus Christ commands us to look at the fields. We are to understand the times and know what God’s people should do. The church is to be a house of prayer for all nations. We are called to make disciples of all nations, to teach obedience to all things that the Lord has commanded.
I do not see how we can do any of that without facing facts as they are. I'm sorry that you feel threatened by the negative reality. Of course we believe in the Soverienty of God. However, the Bible equally teaches the responsibility of man.
I’ve been involved in missions to restricted access areas for over 29 years. If you read our reports, books such as Faith Under Fire In Sudan, The Greatest Century of Missions, The Greatest Century of Reformation, and our website, you will see that we are overwhelmingly positive.
However, it would be foolishness and irresponsibility in the extreme for us to ignore the massive increase in persecution of Christians throughout the Middle East. Many churches have been bombed. Hundreds of Christians murdered recently in the wake of these Islamic Revolutions throughout the Middle East and tens-of-thousands of Christians are fleeing the region.
We have received overwhelmingly positive responses to the What is Going On in the Middle East? articles and presentations. I have received an unprecedented amount of opportunities for presenting this lecture at Men’s Prayer breakfasts, at conferences, colleges, churches, home fellowships, on radio stations, requests for re-printing the article, etc.
Yours is the first negative response we have had to this.
May the Lord continue to be your joy and strength.
Yours for the fulfillment of the Great Commission
Dr. Peter Hammond
