I HAVE NOT YET SEEN THE FILM, FUEL, BUT AS A CHEMICAL ENGINEER I AM CONCERNED THAT SOMETIMES GREENS OVERSIMPLIFY THE PROBLEMS AND THE POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS. DOESN’T THE USE OF CROPS FOR BIOFUEL ALSO IMPACT THE ENVIRONMENT NEGATIVELY?
Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Thank you for your email. Yes, I'm sure that many green organisations over simplify problems and potential solutions. I'm also aware that much of the green movement is like a watermelon, green on the outside and red on the inside. I do not support all of the solutions of the greens. Frequently they want more top-heavy government intervention and interference, especially through the United Nations. Some of the worst environmental disasters in history have been caused by socialist governments such as the Soviet Union and Red China.
The issue that you raised concerning one of the sources of biofuel being crops which lead to other risks to the environment and increase of food prices,… yes, this was dealt with and addressed in the film. There are different sources of biofuels and what the producers of the film were advocating was more the use of algae and waste water to produce biofuel.
