THE SITUATION IN SYRIA AND UKRAINE ARE COMPLEX. TODAY RUSSIA SPEAKS UP FOR THE CHURCH, WHILE AMERICA SUPPORTS THOSE WHO PERSECUTE CHRISTIANS.CRIMEA IS RUSSIAN AND SYRIA IS NONE OF AMERICA’S BUSINESS.ARE YOU ANTI-RUSSIAN?WHY ARE CHRISTIANS SO PARANOID?
I do appreciate your insights and perspective. I do fully agree with you that the Russia of today is not to be confused with the Soviet Union of the past.
I think you will see in the article I wrote on Into the Valley of Death Rode the Six Hundred, a far more positive and sympathetic perspective on Russia in its role historically of protecting Christians in the Middle East and the damage caused in Britain and France in the Crimean War of supporting the Ottoman Empire against Christian Russia.
I am not anti-Russian.
I do understand that Crimea is historically part of Russia.
My goal was not to feed the paranoid pessimism and war-mongering of the Americans, but rather the opposite, to warn them about the danger of getting involved in a situation which they know little of and where the West in the past has frequently backed the wrong side, to the detriment of the Gospel.
I did point out frequently, during my recent speaking tour in the United States, that the countries with the largest numbers of Christians in Europe are actually in Russia, Ukraine, and Romania.
Indeed, I cannot think of one case of foreign adventurism and military intervention from the United States, which has not led to a deterioration in the situation. I advocate policies like that of Switzerland: Armed Neutrality and non-interference in the affairs of other countries.
I regularly advise those Americans who are enthusiastic about war-mongering overseas, that they should not send bombs, but rather Bibles. They should keep the soldiers at home and rather send missionaries into these complex situations overseas, because there is no political solution to the problems in the Middle East, but only a spiritual solution, and that is to be found in Christ Jesus alone.
May God continue to abundantly bless you.
Yours for the fulfilment of the Great Commission
