Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Thank you for your letter concerning religious marks on food.
Our Mission has also been deeply concerned about the pervasiveness of Halaal products in our shops. Muslims are welcome to have their own types of food, just as many shops also cater for Jewish customers through Kosher products. However, to only provide Halaal products in areas which are mostly non-Muslim, seems to be enforcing on us a religious scam.
You are quite right that it is something of a religious tax, and the Halaal committees claim that some of this money raised through Halaal registration goes to advancing Islam and other portions go towards helping the Intifada war against Israel. Surely most consumers would not want to subsidise violence, or the promotion of a religion, which in many cases persecutes the Church.
"Halaal also is a job reservation scheme for Muslims as a Halal product needs to be packaged and prepared by a Muslim."
I have been a Missionary for over 35 years, mostly to persecuted churches. You will find it interesting and helpful to see some of the research we have produced in: Slavery, Terrorism and Islam – The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat. This 300 page book is well illustrated with over 200 pictures and documents the shocking facts.
You would also find useful the film series: Islam Rising (4 part series in a DVD boxset) there are a number of other useful books that I could recommend including Dr. Robert Morey’s Islamic Invasion and Winning the War Against Radical Islam.
