Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Thank you for the link. The article: Why the Protestant Reformation Failed! Is an outrageous distortion of the facts. The author of this article evidently has a major axe to grind, in promoting the Seventh Day Adventist position, that we should be adhering to the Jewish seventh-day Sabbath and not the Christian Lord’s Day on the first day of the week.
I'm well acquainted with these arguments, and they are a dead end street. The early Christian Church gathered for worship: “on the first day of the week” (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2; Revelation 1:10).
The seven-day week is a testimony to the fact that God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh. The fact that Sunday, the first day of the week, is our day of rest, instead of the Jewish Sabbath, is a weekly reminder that Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the first day of the week. He also sent the Holy Spirit, on the day of Pentecost, on the first day of the week. All of this is Scriptural and long predates the establishment of the corrupt Roman Catholic system.
The Scriptures further teach: “Let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon, or Sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.” Colossians 2:16-17
There is no substitute for knowing the Scriptures and knowing our history.
I would strongly encourage you to read The Greatest Century of Reformation book, and visit our www.reformationSA.org.za website, particularly reading the articles: Libel against Luther, When All Men Speak Well of You and Martin Luther – Captive to the Word.
You would also find it worthwhile to read: How the Reformation Changed the Church andHow the Reformation Changed the World.
No one looking at these facts could assert that the Reformation failed!
The fact that most churches today are gutted of spine, cursed by compromise and cowardice, and rotted through with the cancer of antinomianism is the fault of the present generation, and should not be blamed on those bold and brave Reformers, who so bravely contended for the Faith, nearly 5 centuries ago.
There are so many errors in fact and logic in this most unbalanced article that the best thing one can do is read a real history.
Please let me know your postal address and I will gladly send you some more materials on the Reformation.
May the Lord continue to be your joy and strength.
Yours for the fulfillment of the Great Commission
