This year is the 500th anniversary of the Reformation started by Dr. Martin Luther. We planned the Africa Reformation Overland Mission to call people back to the Bible. It was my privilege to be apart of this mission team. Zambia We travelled up to Zambia through Namibia and upon our entrance into Zambia we experienced the worst potholed roads ever. Needless to say – traveling in Zambia was not the most pleasant, and there were countless police-stops with corrupt people looking for bribes. We held a Reformation Conference in Lusaka (the capital of Zambia) at the Justo Mwale University of Theology. Pastors from all over Zambia and even other countries like Malawi and Zimbabwe attended. They were enthusiastic about Reformation and Revival. They were eager to learn and had lots of questions about questionable practices in the Churches in Zambia.

Reformation Celebration How fitting for our Reformation Mission to begin in Zambia with a Reformation Conference, calling people back to proclaim the Word, confront sin, preach the Gospel, seek Holy Spirit boldness, work for doctrinal Reform and Biblical practices, encourage each other in the Word and spend extended time in prayer.  "On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, 'If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water'." John 7:37-38
Zambia and KwaZulu By God's grace, I have returned from my third Mission so far this year. After participating in the Lusaka Reformation FIRE Conference, I flew to KwaZulu/Natal to take part in the Ministers Conference at KwaSizabantu Mission.  Dear Friends

"Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples" Chronicles 16:24 Making Disciples of Nations Since the completion of our Great Commission Course and my Mission to America, we organised the March for Life to Parliament on the National Day of Repentance and I travelled to the Transvaal to conduct a Great Commission Seminar. All departments at Frontline Fellowship have been chasing deadlines to complete new books, tracts, manuals, audio visual materials and DVDs in time for our various Overland Mission teams. We now have Mission teams in Namibia and Lesotho and I will be flying to join our team in Zambia tomorrow.  "Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your Name? For You alone are Holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, For Your judgments have been manifested." Revelation 15:4
Zambia is beautiful country with magnificent landscape. It is home to the mighty Victoria Falls-one of the seven natural wonders of the world. With its rich Christian heritage, statistics read that nearly 90% of Zambians claim to be Christian. However, our most recent mission into Zambia unveiled great apathy within much of the church, and more opposition to our work than I have faced before in Zambia.  Unavoidably Detained
It was quite a contrast from my first visit to Livingstone in Zambia. In 1987 I had been arrested and abused. The Frontline Mission team I was leading had been arrested at Kazangulu after refusing to bribe Zambian officials. After an excruciating day and night of abuse at the hands of the Zambian security forces, we were thrown into filthy cells where the overpowering stench was nauseating. After a night of being attacked by swarms of mosquitos, my skin had been turned into relief maps of angry red bumps and bites. Then blindfolded and shackled, we were taken to Lusaka where weeks of interrogations and incarceration followed. That was October 1987, when Zambia was a one-party dictatorship under Kenneth Kaunda's UNIP. Their official policy was socialist humanism. Vehicle Challenges
During September a Frontline Fellowship Team travelled to Zambia to conduct Discipleship Seminars and continue with arrangements for the Livingstone 200 Missions Conference. After the first day of travel, our vehicle's universal joint loudly gave notice that its expiry date had dawned. We are thankful to the Lord for His protection on the vehicle and His grace in finding the right parts and good help. The odometer on our vehicle clicked over the 300,000 km mark which announced the phase to prepare for the unexpected. The Christian Nation
Zambia is officially a Christian Nation. There are approximately 11.5 million Christians, which means that 86.95 % of Zambians would at least claim to be Christian. Zambia shares her border with 8 other Countries and is in a very strategic place to be a missionary sending country. These statistics seem positive, yet instead of being a nation primarily focussed on being a blessing to Africa, Zambia has more missionaries going into the country than going out. This seems strange for a nation which has so many Christians. During our Mission to Zambia, we scratched below the surface of much of what is called "Christianity" in Zambia. We found warm hearted, devoted Christians, as well as many lukewarm church members. As we ran courses in different areas of Zambia it became apparent why the statistics of Zambian Christianity are so puzzling.  Great Commission Seminars
We conducted three Great Commission Seminars in three different areas in Zambia, presented 19 lectures, delivered five devotions and showed the Jesus film five times. We have been on three outreaches and preached at a Sunday morning Worship service. We have had a total of 210 pastors and church leaders attend these GCSs this week.  Elephant Crossing
After the sun set it was very dark. There was very little traffic and it was quite an occasion to see an oncoming vehicle. Suddenly we saw elephants, clearly silhouetted in the headlights of an approaching vehicle. Elephants are surprisingly difficult to see at night, being dark grey. We praised God for His protection that, at the only occasion elephants were crossing the road in front of us, an oncoming vehicle illuminated and silhouetted them in their headlights in time. |
