"Sing to the LORD, all the earth! Tell of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvellous works among all the peoples! For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and He is to be held in awe above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendour and majesty are before Him; strength and joy are in His place. Ascribe to the LORD, O clans of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength! Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; bring an offering and come before him! Worship the LORD in the splendour of holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth; yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns!" Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Our hearts are full of praise for our great and mighty God Who "has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the Kingdom of His beloved Son, in Whom we have Redemption, the forgiveness of sins." Colossians 1:13-14

Greetings in the wonderful Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

"All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before You. For the Kingdom is the Lord's, and He rules over the nations." Psalm 22:27-28

​Deliveries and ministry in Zimbabwe
En route to Zambia our team delivered Bibles, books and literature to pastors and church leaders in Zimbabwe. These ministry materials are still not readily available in the country. Daniel preached on From Creation to Repentance at a rural church on a Sunday morning and John preached on When God is Enough at a mid-week service.

Transport
With over 15000km travelled on our mission trip to and from Zambia, the need to stay alert on the roads was evident. Overturned trucks on the sides of the roads and huge potholes eating away at the tar, makes one all the more cautious when travelling. While travelling through Zimbabwe we were in the process of overtaking an 18 wheel truck when two of their tires exploded! Thankfully God's hand of protection was on us and we managed to come away unharmed. Despite the far distances travelled, four border crossings, going through rocky, sandy and rough terrain, our faithful vehicle brought us home, which, in itself is an answer to prayer.

It is my privilege to bring you a report of our recent successful Mission to Zambia.

​Intense Ministry in Rough Terrain.
Having less time available to us than would have been ideal, we hurriedly scrambled across the harsh terrain, bouncing over rough, rugged, rocky, broken, bumpy roads in our four-wheel drive vehicle in order to make the best use of available time. The roads seemed to be buffeting, and jarring our vehicle as we drove across the turbulent, raging, wild land of Africa.

We had our minds set on the goal before us to accomplish the objectives which were laid before us.

Transformation
The dramatic changes in Zambia over the last 20 years could hardly have been more acute. The contrast with my first visit to Lusaka Central Police Station and this latest one was extreme. As I was being received by the Commissioner of Police and ushered into their Boardroom for a special Chaplains service, my mind went back to that first time I had seen Lusaka Central Police Station.

My Mission trip to Zambia coincided with intense rainfall and there was flooding in many of the areas visited. I had to drive through muddy, potholed roads and rivers, swamp areas and lakes, where thousands of homes, and many churches, were under water. However, none of this dampened the tremendous enthusiasm for the ministry and on numerous occasions, large numbers of people made public commitments to Christ at the end of the service. 

​During a recent mission to Zambia, Dr. Peter Hammond, the Director of Frontline Fellowship and Contributing Editor of JOY! Magazine, was invited to meet with the President of Zambia, Levy Mwanawasa, at State House, Lusaka.

Malawi was one of the great success stories of the 19th Century missionary movement. Starting with David Livingstone (whose birthday was for many years honoured as a national holiday in Malawi), missionaries succeeded in evangelising and discipling this nation so effectively that what was once the killing fields of Muslim slave traders became one of the most Protestant nations of Africa.

Arrested
Sitting under armed guard in the sun on the Zambian bank of the Zambezi river, I knew we were in for a rough time and a long stay in a Zambian jail. True, we had nothing to hide and were missionaries in transit to Malawi, but the hostile expression on the face of the camouflaged soldier and the nervous way he fingered his AK47 spoke louder than the facts.

Surrounded by marxist dictatorships such as Angola, Congo and Zimbabwe, Zambia is a most strategic country for Christian missions in Africa. For 27 years Zambia itself was a one-party socialist dictatorship exporting terrorism. Now Zambia is officially a Christian nation and potentially ​a base for missionary outreach throughout the troubled and war-ravaged region.
