By God's grace, I safely returned from a series of missions to Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal. During this time I had the privilege of ministering at KwaSizabantu Mission at both morning and evening services in the auditorium and at the Cedar International Academy teacher training Chapel. I was able to visit and pray with the Founder of KwaSizabantu, Rev Erlo Stegen, spending hours with him, reminiscing, discussing Heaven, reading the Scriptures and singing joyful hymns. Uncle Erlo has been one of our very best friends, mentors, inspiration and example of excellence. He is also an Honorary member of the Board of Frontline Fellowship. Back to the Bible Mission For over 15 years I have been a regular guest lecturer of Back to the Bible Mission, in Mpumalanga, presenting weeks of lectures on Missiology and Church History to students from over 20 countries across Africa. During this latest mission, I lectured on Missions in the Old Testament, Missions in the Book of Acts, Early Missionaries and Church Fathers in North Africa, Culture and Christianity, Cross-cultural Communication, What does it Take to be a Missionary, Motives for Missions, Recognising False Calls and Wrong Motives, the Greatness of the Great Commission, the Challenge of the Greatest Century of Missions, Examples of Excellence in Missions, Why the Greatest Missionary is the Bible, 9 Ways of Going and Making Disciples of All Nations. I also presented sermons on Marvellous Mothers with a Mission, Character Determines Competence and Do You Have What it Takes to Persevere? (Our IT department is still uploading audios and videos of these presentations on the www.FrontlineMissionSA.org website.) I also gave presentations to the Student Council and to the staff of the college and conducted Physical Training and practicals with the students and staff. Question and Answer sessions went on for many hours and sometimes late into the night. The programme also included an evening of missionary focus on Sudan and a day of prayer and fasting for everyone at the college. Missionary Mother, Motivator and Mobiliser of Prayer The day after returning from these weeks of Missions, I had the sad duty of being a pallbearer at the funeral for Mrs Dorothea Scarborough, who was one of our longest standing and most invaluable members of the Board of Frontline Fellowship. You can view my Tribute to Mrs Scarborough with pictures and audio and video links to the Funeral and Memorial service on FrontlineMissionSA.org website. It was a special time of intensive extended prayer focus with a strong emphasis on repentance, seeking God's face and worship. We sang lots of great hymns with enthusiasm. It was a mix of meditating on Scripture, set prayers and spontaneous prayers. Everyone present participated. It was very meaningful and refreshing. And vibrant. It did not seem long at all. It was amazing when we suddenly realised we had been praying for hours and needed to give a break! We concluded the day with a celebration of the Lord's Supper. The Lord Jesus promised: “If two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in Heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My Name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:19-20 Literature4Africa There is a never-ending stream of missionaries, ministers, evangelists and teachers coming to our L4A stores to re-supply their work. Each year we are supplying over 100 tonnes of Bibles, New Testaments, Gospels, tracts and Christian books, completely free, to missions, ministries, churches, prisons, police and army chaplains, throughout the continent. Our L4A stores serve as a missionary quartermaster providing spiritual ammunition essential for many ministries throughout Africa. It is a tremendous blessing to deliver Scriptural materials to those who most appreciate, most enthusiastically read and apply the Word of God to their daily lives. We have requests from all over South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Congo, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Nigeria and even further afield. According to Operation World, there are 500 million people in Africa who call themselves Christians. There are 100 million churchgoers in Africa who do not yet have a Bible, nor even a New Testament. Please pray for our couriers and contacts as they seek to deliver and distribute the life-transforming Scriptures and Bible teaching resources which have been entrusted to us, to where they are most needed.
