“The Lord gave the Word; great was the company of those who proclaimed it:” Psalm 68:11
New Bibles for Africa Video
On my first cross-border Mission to Mozambique, 1982, I was told: “The missionaries taught us how to read. But it was the communists who gave us something to read.” This shocking statement inspired me to give highest priority to providing Gospel booklets, New Testaments, Bibles and discipleship materials throughout Africa. It led me to approach authors and publishers to ask for donations of any damaged, or shop-soiled books, or those with binding problems, that they should rather donate these to our Literatur4Africa ministry. Initially, we received parcels, then mail sacks and for the last 18 years, container shipments of tonnes of Bibles and books to carefully, prayerfully and strategically distribute to those who would most appreciate, best use and apply these strategic Scriptural resources. Now Ndumiso has completed a 15-minute video documentary: Bibles for Africa. This will give you an overview and insights into some of what is involved in this far-reaching literature ministry. Please view it and share it with friends and family. If possible, screen it to your Sunday school or Bible study groups.
More Than 100 Million Church-Goers in Africa Do Not Yet Have a Bible
Operation World informs us that there are 500 million people who identify as Christian in Africa. Over 100 million church-goers in Africa do not have a copy of a Bible, or even a New Testament. The needs are great, the opportunities are huge and urgent. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” Romans 10:17; “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes…” Romans 1:16; You can also read our article Literature Shipments Offloaded Despite Lockdown Limitations, with pictures on our website. “So shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11
Video Tribute to Sudanese Co-Worker Rev. Jeffreys Kayanga
Last month we learned that one of my most trusted friends and co-workers in Sudan, Rev. Jeffreys Kayanga passed away after a short illness. We had walked many hundreds of kilometers together in the war zones of Sudan, conducting hundreds of services, outreaches and lectures in remote villages and towns. Please see the video tribute, which Ndumiso put together, with interviews with Jeffreys in the warzones of Sudan. You can also view an interview with Rev. Jeffreys Kayanga, filmed just after South Sudan won her Independence, 2011, click here. Jeffreys Kayanga can now declare: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the Faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
20 Years Ago – African Penguin Rescue Operation
23 June will mark the 20th anniversary of the launch of the largest penguin rescue operation in history. Like many other Capetonians, I recruited all the friends I could and mobilised staff from our mission office in Rondebosch to head over to SANCCOB (Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds) to volunteer and help with the cleaning and feeding of oiled penguins as best we could. As the Chinese-owned MV Treasure had spilled over 1,300 tonnes of bunker fuel into Table Bay Harbour, oiling 20,000 penguins on Robben Island and endangering another 20,000 at nearby Dassen Island, it was the worst environmental disaster in South Africa’s history. Additionally, it occurred during the breeding season and the penguins had just had the largest number of chicks in recorded history. You can view a video of my presentation on this extraordinarily successful rescue operation, click here. Or, you can listen to an audio of my presentation, click here. A PowerPoint presentation on this is available, should you want to show this to your Sunday school class, or school, as an example of what volunteers can achieve with co-ordinated and determined action, click here. 25 Years of Christian Liberty Books
Launched in July 1995, Christian Liberty Books (CLB) is a non-profit Christian ministry dedicated to fulfilling the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ by providing quality Bible-based resources for Home Education, Missions, Evangelism, Christian History, Creation Science, Reformation and Revival. Our bookshop in Rondebosch stocks over 6,000 titles of books, teaching manuals and audiovisual resources. Most of our materials are imported from trusted publishers overseas, but we have also produced over 100 titles in-house. As a missionary book ministry, CLB has been deeply involved in promoting home education in South Africa from the very beginning. CLB has donated many thousands of our books to Bible colleges, Missions, ministries and churches throughout Africa. CLB is fully involved in the pro-life, pro-family movement, participating in Life Chains, the March for Life, outreaches in shopping malls and Boxes with Love to destitute pensioners in Zimbabwe. CLB is also fully involved in the Biblical Worldview Summits and Reformation 500 Coalition on Revival movement.
You can view CLB’s new interactive catalogue online, click here.
Most customers make use of mail order, or order online. Visit www.Christianlibertybooks.co.za.
We are also increasingly making available in-house titles as E-books. 29 Frontline books are available as E-books:
If you visit the CLB Facebook page, you will see a visual tour of the bookshop and its treasure-trove of resources to equip and empower home educators, missionaries, Evangelists and teachers.
“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16
I recently received an invitation to speak to Muslim community leaders who responded warmly and eagerly accepted the lecture notes and videos offered. Our www.themessageofnabiisa.org website continues to present the Gospel and discipleship materials to Muslims. Please continue to pray for our ongoing work and witness amongst Muslims, both near and far.
“All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord and all the families of the nations shall worship before You. For the Kingdom is the Lord’s and He rules over the nations.” Psalm 22:27-28
Thank you very much for all your prayers, encouragement and support, without which none of our ministries would be possible. May God continue to be your joy and strength.
Yours for the fulfilment of the Great Commission
