Mission to The Kingdom of KwaZulu
March began with a mission to  KwaZulu/Natal where I had the privilege of  participating in the Ministers Conference at KwaSizabantu Mission. Over 2000 delegates from 28 countries, including from Angola, Australia, Armenia, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Paraguay, Lesotho, Kenya, Namibia, Mozambique, Malawi,  Zambia and Zimbabwe, Swaziland and from the United States of America, participated. We shipped up and prepositioned pallets of boxes of Bibles, Gospel booklets and Bible study materials to equip and Empower participants with the resources they need for their congregations. A large number of delegates from the Congo were delighted to be equipped with high quality Gospel books and booklets in French and Swahili. There was tremendous interest in our literature tables and we were able to equip many ministers and evangelists with boxes of Gospel literature in their languages.

After the Ministers Conference, I was invited to give presentations on Church history, Reformation history, Missions history, South African history and contemporary World history to teachers in training at Cedar College of Education.

Numerous students and teachers stayed behind to ask questions for hours afterwards.
On Sunday I travelled down into the Tugela River valley to minister at Magogo,  a dynamic new mission outpost planted by Uncle Erlo over 15 years ago. It was encouraging and inspiring to see the growth of this mission station. On Sunday morning the church building was packed with eager and enthusiastic Zulus. Many young people stayed behind for counselling after the service. It was another example of the abiding fruit of Rev Erlo Stegen’s phenomenal Life and ministry.

Since September, our missionary, Johan, has been based in Congo, developing the Congo River Mission.  There are 18 million people living in the Congo River Basin, either on the banks of the Congo River itself or of its tributaries, who can only be reached by river. There are no roads to any of these villages. This Congo River Basin represents one of the most neglected and needy mission fields on earth. The escalating war in the Congo is threatening the area where Johan works:
Please continue to pray for Johan, in Congo, who is based in Kisangani (Kisangani was formerly named Stanleyville, located on the Congo River in the eastern part of the central Congo Basin in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is the country's fifth most populous urban area, with an estimated population of 1,602,144 and the largest of the cities in the tropical jungle of Congo. Kisangani is located approximately 2,100km from the mouth of the Congo River, making it the farthest navigable point upstream. Henry Morton Stanley founded Kisangani as Stanley Falls Station, in 1883).

An estimated 18 million people are spread out in often very isolated villages in the Congo River Basin. Their daily existence is desolate, and they need to hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and receive Bibles in a language they understand. The Congo River is very deep in places. It is a fast-flowing river up to 16km wide in the rainy season. The distance from Kisangani to the capital, Kinshasa, is 1734km and there are 14 000km of riverbanks to reach when the many tributaries are considered. River blindness caused by the black fly is prevalent and often goes untreated. The Congo River Basin is a most strategic and neglected mission field. Johan is distributing Gospel booklets and Bibles, along with leadership training resources, to Pastors, Evangelists and Teachers along the Congo River. 
We have been asked by the Chaplain General of the Zambian Army to help set up and develop a Chaplain's Training School. We have also been asked to assist our good friends in South Sudan to help them re-establish the Hospital in Lui. Missionaries in the Kingdom of Eswatini have requested more Bibles in Siswati, especially for prison ministry.  By God's grace we have been able to organize some shipments of Bibles in SiSwati.

Please also continue to pray for the Chaplain General of the Zambian military who has asked us to set up a Livingstone Chaplains Training School, which will not only be for the military, Police & Prison chaplains of Zambia, but also for chaplains from all over Africa. 
In February, we led the March for Life to parliament in Cape Town, to mark the anniversary of the legalisation of abortion in South Africa.

The next day, we received another container shipment of Bibles and Christian books – over 17 tonnes of literature which we offloaded and organised/categorized and designated.  On average, every year, our Literature4Africa ministry distributes over 100 tonnes of Bibles and books, throughout Africa, at no charge. However, although we make these materials freely available, there are of course still operational costs that our Mission needs to cover, including custom clearance, transport and delivery charges.

Faith in Action, Feet on the Street & People Led to Christ

We began our intensive three-week Great Commission Course by climbing Lions Head Mountain and concluded the GCC with a hike up and over the full length and breadth of Table Mountain. There were also numerous practical assignments, written assignments and exams.
Each Saturday, we held Evangelism Seminars.
Remarkably, virtually everyone who attended the seminars joined in the outreaches in the afternoon.
We were able to distribute thousands of Gospel booklets and Evangelistic tracts, and we had the privilege of praying with a good amount of people along the Sea Point promenade and in Green Point Park.
On our second Saturday we held a Muslim Evangelism Workshop.
And in the afternoon, we led several people to the Lord in the Muslim stronghold/community of Bo-Kaap. We were enabled to entrust a number of Bibles and New Testaments to people we prayed with on the streets, including a Bible in the Shona language for a Zimbabwean. We also attended a Friday service in a mosque and afterwards had some intense discussions with the Imam and a number of Muslims there.
We also obtained requests for Bibles in Arabic and in the Somali language.

If we are to fulfil the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ, we need to love our Muslim neighbours enough to learn to understand Islam, and to faithfully pray for and effectively share the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ with Muslims “Everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved.”
 
“How, then, can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Romans 10:13-14

KwaZulu, Congo & Eswatini
By God's grace I returned from a most productive time of ministry, fellowship and worship in KwaZulu Natal.
Mission to The Kingdom of KwaZulu
On Saturday, the 14th of December, I gave a presentation on Jesus the Light of the World to the Youth Conference at KwaSizabantu Mission.  
Over 6000 young people registered for this conference. That does not count the many young people who live on the mission, the counsellors and coworkers, or other guests.
For example, the Premier/governor of KwaZulu and
local mayor and chiefs also visited on Saturday.

We also had quite a number of delegations from overseas including a group from Saint Petersburg in Russia.

We are now gearing up for our Biblical Worldview Summit and Great Commissioned Course leadership training programs in January.

Ready to Preach, Pray, or Die at a moment’s notice!
As my mentor, Francis Grim declared: “A missionary must be ready to preach, pray, or die, at a moment’s notice!”

30 Years ago, in 1994, four Frontline vehicles were sent into the field. Only one vehicle came back.
In the early morning mist of 14 December 1994, Frontline Fellowship Field Worker, Anthony Duncan, was killed in a head-on collision.

Mission to the Kingdom of Eswatini
When I arrived in the Kingdom of Swaziland/ Eswatini, at the end of November, the first people I got to witness to were Mormons from Utah, eye surgeons coming for a mission to this country!
Back in 1982 I rode throughout this fascinating country on my off-road Honda 250XL motorbike scrambler, conducting Jesus' film Evangelism with a 16 mm projector in schools and marketplaces across the country.
Plainly the Kingdom of Swaziland has advanced much since that time. Many of the bumpy, pot holed dirt roads I rode across over 40 years ago are now magnificent smooth and tarred roads.

An Island of Peace in a Continent in Turmoil
This is a remarkably peaceful and productive country, an island of peace in a continent often torn apart by war, corruption, crime and violence.
Eswatini is the only monarchy left on the continent of Africa. It is also the only country in Africa that has diplomatic and economic relations with the Republic of China/Free China/Taiwan.
The people here have no time for Woke/LGBTQ perversion. The king has made it clear that there are only two genders and no place for “pride” marches!
Communism is also illegal and dealt with very decisively.
 
Gospel Impact
My gracious host, Dutch missionary, Leo, has 8 lovely cats at his home. Leo related how his cats have protected his wife Jill and himself
from deadly black Mamba snakes in their living room.

They often see Kudu, Impala and other wild animals in the Bush around their home. Leo leads Swazi Vision which has distributed many hundreds of thousands of illustrated Jesus Messiah Gospel books during outreaches to schools, hospitals, police stations and prisons throughout the country and across the border.

Earlier this year, we organized outreaches in Cape Town where 50,000 of Leo’s Jesus Messiah Gospel books, translated into Afrikaans, were distributed in schools, churches and police stations throughout the Cape of Good Hope.
 
 
Seeking First the Kingdom of God
On the Tuesday, after an early morning prayer meeting, I ministered to a Women's Bible study. Several of whom expressed their appreciation of my articles in JOY!  Magazine, particularly the Bible in a Nutshell series and the history articles.

Much of the week I was at Pasture Valley, a dairy farm with a single cat, but many cows (and fresh milk). This farm is more like a mission base, caring for more than 300 children, many orphaned through AIDS. More than fifty of these children live on the farm in the Children's Home they have set up.

Peter and Michelle also have a variety of ministries, including providing Skills Training and an Education Center which is where they hosted a Pastor's Seminar where I was invited to present Leadership Training on Evangelism, Discipleship, the Law of God and the Gospel of Christ, The Kingdom of God, Spiritual Warfare, and Back to the Bible for Reformation and Revival.  At the beginning of the seminar, each pastor was given a copy of our
Kingdom of God booklet.

At the conclusion of the Seminar, each of the pastors was presented with a copy of my New Testament Survey book to assist them in teaching every Book of the Bible to their congregations.

On the Wednesday, we were interrupted by a rainstorm, with Thunder and lightning which was both spectacular and something of a relief after the sweltering heat of the previous days.

On the Wednesday evening, I also presented an Evangelism Training program for the Youth, using them to Evangelism Explosion and Way of the Master and equipped them with supplies of World Missionary Press Gospel booklets, in the Siswati language, for outreaches.
 
On Friday morning, I had the privilege of addressing a Men's Breakfast at a new coffee shop outreach centre of this dynamic farm and mission, at the first public meeting advertised for this new initiative. 
Situated on the main road, this is strategically positioned to reach the broader community and travellers. By God's grace, we will ensure that they well supplied with Gospel literature, Bibles and Christian books.

Several missionaries and farmers in Swaziland have said that they regularly enjoy my Reformation Society lecture Videos uploaded to our website & numerous Pastors said they like my books The Greatest Century of Missions was particularly popular!

On Sunday morning I had the privilege of proclaiming the Gospel at a local Prison. The men paid close attention to the message and responded enthusiastically. Many made a public commitment to Christ, prayed with me and requested Bibles.
Bibles for Eswatini
There is a tremendous shortage, hunger and need for Bibles in the Siswati language.
We need to trust the Lord for more designated funds for us to purchase sufficient Bibles in Siswati, for the prison outreaches and for the many youths requesting their own copies.
When I related to the prisoners and to the prison chaplain, the remarkable testimony of our Chairman, Anthony Stander, who was converted to Christ while in maximum security prison, they requested that he be sent to Eswatini, to minister in all the prisons in the country!

Our Literature 4 Africa ministry is needing to organize transportation for large quantities of Bibles, Gospel books, Bible study materials and Sunday school materials to these various strategic ministries.

God is doing a wonderful work in this mountainous Kingdom. Please Pray for Eswatini. We praise God for a gift that has enabled us to purchase 50 Bibles in Siswati for the Prisoners.

Mission to Orania
By God's grace I returned from driving 1800Km to and from Orania, where I had been invited, by the Afrikaans Protestante Kerk (APK), for ministry including radio and church services and consultations for Missions and Evangelism.
Mission to Orania
My car was so heavily laden with boxes of Gospel booklets and evangelistic literature and posters, that the vehicle literally was scraping over speed humps.

We delivered many boxes of Gospel literature, from World Missionary Press and Jesus Messias books & Gospel posters in Afrikaans and Tswana and Christian books, Films and other helpful materials. It was a fascinating visit and very productive.

Numerous people there knew me and told me that they enjoyed my articles on the Ten Commandments, the Bible in a Nutshell, Answering Sceptics and on South African Christian History in JUIG! Magazine. Others had listened to our Salt and Light radio programs on Radio Tygerberg.

One minister recalled meeting me in the Army when he was a Colonel in Military Intelligence. One lady had completed our Great Commission Course several years ago.

I also met someone who was part of a Frontline mission team outreach to Southwest Africa and Angola back in 1989.

One lady had followed our work for years and asked me detailed questions concerning each of my children, by name.
 
Imagine
Imagine a community without any litter. No graffiti.

Even construction sites looked neat and orderly.

Imagine a community where children walk or cycle on their own, without adult supervision.

Where children play in the street. Imagine a society without any burglar bars, no security gates, no high fences and no razor wire! In fact, most residents do not bother to lock their doors.

Most cars are left unlocked, sometimes even with the keys still in the ignition. Imagine a society where you can drink the water out of the tap, without fear of falling sick!

A community that is energy sufficient, where regular scheduled power failures (the so-called load shedding) do not occur!

Imagine a community which has not had a single murder in over 33 years!

That community is Orania. Founded back in 1991, Orania is a private Trust that only accepts residents who are Christians and who are Afrikaans.

Based on the principle of self-determination and self-sufficiency, Orania has effectively seceded from South Africa.

They want nothing from the government except to be left alone to raise their children in the Christian Faith and to live out and celebrate their own culture, in a safe environment.

What they have achieved is remarkable. They build and maintain their own roads. Purify their water. Print their own currency, the Ora.

They run their own schools, and they are building their own university. The community has grown at a steady pace of 10% per annum, and since 2020 their population has doubled.

Orania is a success story, economically, socially and practically.

Although they are separatist, they are also very hospitable and welcome visitors. Some of their communities are also interested in Missions to neighbouring communities, which is why I was invited to present training in missions and evangelism.

I gave a presentation on Andrew Murray and the 1860 revival and on the greatness of the Great Commission, encouraging them to bless the nations, not only the communities around them, but also across the border and throughout Africa.

​Reformation in South Africa
Last week, we were at the Huguenot monument and museum, in Franschhoek, hosting the Reformation Day service and picnic lunch. In the evening, we screened the classic 1953 Martin Luther film. We had several Congolese guests, a visitor from Zimbabwe, a couple of visitors from Britain and a German visitor participating in these Reformation Day events.
​Reformation in Zambia
Since 1991 I have frequently been invited to minister in churches and conferences, on radio and television throughout Zambia. The transformation from Kaunda’s socialist dictatorship to the free market, multi-party democracy, freedom of the press and freedom of religion of the MMD government was dramatic. President Chiluba committed Zambia to becoming a Christian country and entered an amendment to the constitution to that effect. Abortion was banned. Pornography is prohibited. The Bible returned to the school classrooms. Chaplains replaced political officers in the armed forces. National days of prayer and repentance and thanksgiving were observed. Zambia has a National Day of Prayer every October. This October marked 60 years of Independence of Zambia.
​Reformation in Angola
30 years ago, a Frontline Fellowship Mission team was approaching a remote village in Cuando Cubango province
​(what the Portuguese referred to as the ends of the earth) in Angola.
The team heard enthusiastic singing. They immediately recognised the tune, even though they could not understand the words. What they were hearing was: Ein Feste Burg Ist Unser Gott (A Mighty Fortress is our God), Dr. Martin Luther's great Battle Hymn of the Reformation in Ovimbundu. This beloved Hymn, based on Psalm 46, is one of the favourite Hymns of the Persecuted Church, and one of the most translated Hymns in history. Here they were, at what had been described as the ends of the earth, and they were celebrating Reformation Day.
