Hundreds of Libyan troops have been sent to Zimbabwe, prompting fears that they will help dictator Robert Mugabe, crack down on his political opponents. The militia, part of Col. Gaddafi’s elite forces, who are known for their terror tactics, are being housed in secret locations scattered across the country.
According to members of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), Zimbabwe’s main opposition party, the Libyans are assisting Mr Mugabe with his “security.” Senior officials of the MDC believe that assassination squads are moving into Harare. The inevitable consequences of Robert Mugabe's racist and marxist policies in Zimbabwe are becoming increasingly apparent.
Zimbabwe's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has declined by over 25% in the last three years. At the same time, employment has fallen by over 33%. Exports have fallen by over 50% and foreign exchange receipts by over 66%. All imported products are in short supply and the hospitals are virtually out of all essential medicines. The systematic destruction of the commercial farms have destroyed the largest employer in the country, and more than half of the total population of Zimbabwe face starvation. At least 85% of the people are living below the poverty line and at least 50% are regarded as absolutely destitute. Employment has fallen by a full 33%. More than half of all the children in Zimbabwe are no longer in school and 65% of all the girls are no longer in any school. Cult Confusion
Our Mission team to Zimbabwe reported back on a proliferation of cults, sects and false gospels undermining churches throughout Zimbabwe during this troubled time of power failures and food shortages Mission to Zimbabwe Our Mission team delivered Boxes with Love to destitute pensioners and conducted Discipleship Seminars in three churches. The Discipleship Training Seminars used the new Discipleship Training Manual of Frontline Fellowship as the primary textbook. Lectures presented included: The Essence of the True Gospel, Repentance, Full Salvation, What is a Christian?, The World vs The Word, I am Not Ashamed of the Gospel, The Beatitudes, Suffering and Revival. All in all the Mission team took 60 meetings, including lectures, sermons, devotions, Bible studies and film ministry. Zimbabwe is at a crossroads. What was once a bread basket of Africa, exporting food, became a basket case, with millions starving. 28 years of misrule by Marxist Robert Mugabe resulted in the greatest unemployment (85%), the highest inflation (over 2 million%) and the lowest life expectancy (31 years) in the world. More than half of the population have fled the country.
How does one begin to rebuild a country that has been so thoroughly ruined? This is the challenge that we as Christians must respond to. It is imperative that Christians worldwide unite in prayer and action - to ensure that the long-suffering people of Zimbabwe are freed from the tyranny which has oppressed them for so long. Robert Mugabe’s Marxist regime has unleashed a new wave of slaughter against wildlife in Zimbabwe. Conservationists who have been struggling to rehabilitate the wildlife after the devastation caused by Mugabe’s chaotic farm invasions are now reeling under a new threat. The farm invasions mobilised party militants to invade and loot 5,000 White owned farms. This also included mobs of thousands storming into game reserves, both private and state, to slaughter huge herds of animals and deliberately set fire to vast areas and forests just to drive the animals towards their traps and guns.
ANC president Jacob Zuma is confused
The ANC president Jacob Zuma is confused. What efforts of the US and Europe are preventing the solving of the Zimbabwean crisis? The solution to the Zimbabwean political and economic crisis is the removal of ZANU PF government of president Robert Mugabe. ZANU PF tyranny must go. Zuma sympathies seem to be with Mugabe. "Nobody is doing more to help the situation in Zimbabwe than South Africa,"said Zuma. What is South Africa doing to help Zimbabwe? President Thabo Mbeki is supporting ZANU PF “government” under the facade of 'Quiet Diplomacy'. May Il remind Zuma that Zimbabwe does not need the reconciliation of opposition political parties with the ZANU PF government , but the removal of the bloodthirsty, ZANU PF dictatorship. 8 APRIL 1919 – 20 NOVEMBER 2007 The courageous Prime Minister of Rhodesia (from 1964-1979) died peacefully of natural causes at St. James, near Cape Town, in South Africa. Sportsman Born on 8 April 1919 in rural Rhodesia, Ian Smith was the third child and only son of John and Agnes Smith, both later awarded MBE’s for Public Service. A gifted sportsman, Ian Smith was educated at Chaplin High School, Gwelo, and at Rhodes University, in Grahamstown, South Africa. By God’s grace, our mission team to Zimbabwe has succeeded in delivering the Boxes With Love, food, Gospel booklets, Bible commentaries, evangelistic and discipleship materials and medical supplies to key contacts in Zimbabwe.
As we were packing and preparing for this mission trip, news came through that the borders to Zimbabwe were closed, amidst massive congestion and chaos at the borders. Numerous contacts informed us that we had to postpone the trip as the doors to Zimbabwe were firmly closed. Although Zimbabwe previously exported food, now approximately 7 million Zimbabweans are dependent on external food aid. 75% of Zimbabwe's population are now living below the poverty line. Out of originally 5 500 productive commercial farms, today less than 500 farms are in any way operational. So far the Zimbabwean government has targeted 6 897 farms, with a total area of almost 12 million hectares for what they term "resettlement".
The economy in Zimbabwe is one of the fastest shrinking in the world. Unemployment is officially over 70%. Inflation is running at 440%. Although on the official exchange 1 British Pound is equal to 814 Zimbabwean Dollars, on the Black-market it takes 14 000 Zimbabwe Dollars to buy 1 British Pound and approximately 20 000 Zimbabwe Dollars for 1 US Dollar. |
