Amerikas største teolog
Jonathan Edward (1703-1758) spillede en ledende rolle i ”The Great Evangelical Awakening” (1735-1744) og i at forsvare den reformerte tro mod angreb fra deisterne og arminianisterne. Jonathan Edwards er blevet anerkendt, selv af sekulære historikere, som en af de mest originale tænkere, og indflydelsesrige intellekter i New Englands historie og amerikansk teologi. Han er også blevet beskrevet som: “Amerikas største teolog.” Jonathan Edwards skrifter har bestemt tiltrukket mere opmærksomhed i England, Europa, og længere endnu, end nogen anden amerikansk teolog i over 250 år.
