“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.” Isaiah 43:2 Bad Times are Good for Spiritual Work As I write this there are daily riots in the streets in almost every province of South Africa. The ANC controlled parliament are holding public hearings to demonstrate public support for their plan to change the constitution to allow “Expropriation Without Compensation” – basically, land confiscations. With such a blatant attempt to subvert private ownership of property, the rule of law and tear up constitutional guarantees, there is a growing lawlessness spreading throughout the country (See: Is South Africa Entering the Second Phase of the Revolution?). Zimbabwe Goes to the Polls Across the border, our near neighbour, Zimbabwe, is waiting on tenterhooks to see if their latest election, 30 July, will be as rigged and stolen as all the others under the Marxist ZANU-PF government. Desperate for hope, the longsuffering people of Zimbabwe are earnestly praying for a new dawn of freedom after 38 years of Marxist misrule under Robert Mugabe, who has ousted by the military 21 November 2017 (See: Zimbabwe Celebrates as Mugabe Falls). Battle for the Soul of a Continent These are just some of the daily realities which our Mission seeks to confront and deal with in a Biblical way. We have a Mission team planning to embark on an Africa Reformation Overland Mission to Botswana, Swaziland, Malawi, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Tanzania. “ But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the Gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24 Back to Biblical Exposition – Reformation 500 As next year is the 500th anniversary of the launch of the Swiss Reformation by Reformer Ulrich Zwingli, we have published a Biblical Preaching Handbook to challenge, equip and empower pastors to go back to the Bible, to study, preach and teach through every Book of the Bible and apply the central message of each Book to our daily lives. This Biblical Preaching Handbook is at the printers and by God's grace, will be back in time for our Mission team to take and donate to pastors, Evangelists and chaplains throughout Southern Africa, to work for Reformation by faithfully preaching line by line, verse by verse, chapter by chapter, week by week, through every Book of the Bible. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 Boxes with Love for Destitute Pensioners As part of our ministry to body, mind and spirit, our Love in Action ministry seeks to prepare and deliver Boxes with Love to pensioners in Zimbabwe who have lost their life savings due to the collapse of their economy in that Marxist country. Each donated package is filled with tins and packets of food, medicines, literature and other desperately needed and hard to obtain treats. “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” James 1:27 Education Open Days We are also regularly hosting Open Days for Home Educators and their children. Following up on our earlier South African History Open Day, we hosted a Church History Open Day mainly focusing on the Middle Ages. These involved parallel programmes for parents and older children, which I deal with and a childrens programme which Emma, John, Alieske and Alpha focus on, with much appreciated help from outside volunteers. You can see videos of these South African History and Church History presentations on our Vimeo video gallery on www.FrontlineMissionSA.org website and audio recordings on our Sermon Audio page. We greatly updated and expanded our Church History Manual in time for this. “We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.” Psalm 78:4 Bibles and Textbooks for Sudan Pastors and school principals in Sudan have requested us to provide more Bibles and school and college textbooks to enable them to effectively disciple their students in the schools and Teacher Training colleges and Bible colleges in the Nuba Mountains. “Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” Psalm 126:5-6 Missions in the Mall For 24 years we have been conducting Missions in the Mall during National Women’s Day, setting up literature tables and displays in shopping centres, distributing free literature and balloons with Scriptures and pro-life, pro-family messages. We also conduct Spiritual Well-Being Surveys which integrate Way of the Master, Ten Commandments-based Evangelism and Evangelism Explosion questions to challenge shoppers with life priorities in the light of eternity. Those completing the surveys receive a New Testament or Evangelistic DVD. These outreaches can involve up to 100 volunteers working in shifts in up to five shopping centres. “Wisdom calls aloud outside; she raises her voice in the open squares. She cries out in the chief concourses, at the openings of the gates in the city she speaks her words.” Proverbs 1:20-21 Parliamentary Public Hearings on “Land Expropriation Without Compensation” Public hearings are already underway around the country for individuals, or organisations, to give verbal reactions to the Constitutional Review Committee on their proposed changes to the South African Constitution, to allow for expropriation of property without compensation. We have been asked to conduct Media Workshops and help churches, Missions and concerned individuals to formulate their presentations, which are often given in an atmosphere of intimidation and heckling by well-organised mobs of Marxist EFF agitators bussed into the venues. Please pray for me, as this Saturday I will be seeking to speak at one of these parliamentary hearings in Cape Town. “Hate evil, love good; establish justice in the gate…” Amos 5:15 Other Upcoming Events for Prayer Please also pray for a number of upcoming events, including speaking at a major farming event on Security and Survival and Home Education and a week of lecturing on Church History at Back to the Bible Mission, which has students training for the ministry from 20 countries throughout Africa. Hunter will also be lecturing at Back to the Bible on Ethics. Some of our Missionaries are giving regular weekly Biblical Worldview presentations for a Women’s Bible study. We have weekly outreaches at local universities, to Muslims in the area and at the Ark, City of Refuge. In October, I have been invited to speak at the Future of Christendom Reformation Conference in Pennsylvania, the Old Paths Christian History Conference in Idaho and at churches in Virginia and North Carolina. Back to Biblical Exposition Please also pray for the upcoming Back to Biblical Exposition Reformation 500 Conference (30 October), the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (11 November), the Biblical Worldview Summit (4-9 January 2019) and Great Commission Course (4-25 January 2019). “So shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 Global Church Council Reformation 500 Zürich As 2019 marks the 500th anniversary of the launch of the Reformation in Switzerland by Ulrich Zwingli, the next Reformation 500 Global Church Council will be convened in Zürich, 15-20 July 2019. This council is an invitation only event, open to respected Church leaders, Bible college principals and Mission leaders from every nation. Those wanting to apply to participate in this historic Church Council should write to Dr. Jay Grimstead ([email protected]) of the Coalition on Revival and International Church Council Project. “…I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the Faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” Jude 3 Thank you for all your prayers, encouragement and support, without which none of our ministries would be possible.
“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2 May God continue to be your joy and strength.
