Thank you very much for your love, prayers and encouragement. The latest update from the hospital is that yesterday, Lenora had x-rays and they discovered a primary cause of her intense pain: one of her back ribs is fractured! This is high up, close to her shoulder and explains the acute pain she has had in moving. The cancer treatment makes the bones more brittle and susceptible to injury. The x-ray also revealed evidence that the cancer has spread to her skull and lower spine. That explains the migraines and back pain. Today, they are doing an MRI scan to ascertain whether any of her organs are affected by the cancer. Lenora is feeling significantly better today.
The nausea is almost gone and she says the pain is dramatically decreased. Although she is still in acute pain, the medication is making everything far more bearable. One of the doctors spoke to my daughter, Andrea and said that: “humanly speaking, barring Divine Intervention,” her mother may only have a matter of a few months to live. By God’s grace, we have beaten the odds before. The specialists told us that our son, Christopher, could not survive more than a few months after birth. Yet, we celebrated his 25th birthday last year. He is fit and healthy and a trophy of God’s grace and answers to prayer. Lenora has been battling cancer since 2010. They did not expect her to live more than a few years at that initial diagnosis in 2010. Lenora is a survivor. Now that Lenora’s body has so violently reacted to the radiation treatment, we are encouraging her to go the alternative route. However, the oncologist is still recommending targeted radiation to shrink the cancer in the bones. We are looking forward to having Lenora back home, especially as the hospital is not allowing any visitors at all. It has been very lonely for Lenora in isolation at the hospital. Thank you for standing with us in prayer. May God continue to be your joy and strength, especially as we seek God for His grace, mercy and intervention. “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed - always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4:7-10 Yours in His love and service Peter Hammond Frontline Fellowship P.O.
