Mission to Zambia Our Mission trip to Zambia coincided with intense rainfall and there was flooding in many of the areas visited. I had to drive through muddy, potholed roads and rivers, swamp areas and lakes, where thousands of homes, and many churches, were under water. However, none of this dampened the tremendous enthusiasm for the ministry and on numerous occasions, large numbers of people made public commitments to Christ at the end of the service. Chaplains Ministry My hosts organized a VIP reception which whisked me passed customs and immigration procedures. I was received by the Minister of Home Affairs, Minister Lameck Mangani. The Honorable Mangani expressed interest in Frontline Fellowship assisting with the training of police and prison chaplains and supplying Evangelistic and Discipleship materials for prisons. By God’s grace I was able to equip hundreds of pastors and theological students with copies of our new publications including: The Ten Commandments – God’s Perfect Law of Liberty and The Apostles Creed – Firm Foundations For Your Faith. I also distributed boxes of Power of Prayer Handbooks, Biblical Principles For Africa, The Greatest Century of Reformation and audio CDs, DVDs and MP3s to various ministries, including the Baptist Convention in Zambia, the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia, The Bible Society of Zambia, Christian Vocational Training College, Kasupe Bible College, Justo Mwale Theological Seminary and various radio and TV ministries. From Beer Hall to Bible One of my hosts, The Bible Gospel Church in Africa, celebrated their 10 th anniversary while I was in Lusaka. Ten years ago the denomination began in a converted beer hall. I remember preaching just over 9 years ago in that venue. Now the congregation in Matero has over 3000 members and The Bible Gospel Church in Africa has over 240 congregations and 89 community schools. BIGOCA has missions planting churches in most of the neighbouring countries of Zambia, including in the Congo, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Leadership Training In the Bible colleges I lectured on: The Challenge of Islam, Comparing the Quran with the Bible, How to Effectively Evangelise Muslims, Understanding the Cold War and the Collapse of the Iron Curtain, Revival in the Bible and in History and The End of Islam. At the seminars I lecture on: The Ten Commandments, Poverty – Its Causes and Cure, Principles for Prosperity, God and Government, God’s Word to a Nation, Reforming Society, Humanism is Self-Destructive, The Power of Gospel Literature and The Greatness of the Great Commission. Church Ministry At churches I preached on: Living in the Light of Eternal Judgment, Suffering and Thanksgiving, Living in the Light of Eternity, Reforming our Families and The Great Commission is our Supreme Ambition. Multi-Media Ministry By God’s grace I was able to conduct over 30 meetings, including 2 leadership training seminars, lecturing at 3 Bible and Theological colleges, preaching at 4 churches and conducting radio and TV ministry. Books, audio CD boxsets, DVDs and MP3s were donated to college libraries and hundreds of Bibles were provided for ministries in Zambia. Bible and Book Shipments While I was busy in Zambia, our mission headquarters in Cape Town was a hive of activity as two large shipments, totaling almost 30 tonnes, of Bibles and Books arrived. These are still being categorised and shipped off to missions, Christian schools, Bible colleges, churches, evangelists and chaplains in the field. Chaplains Handbooks At the request of a number of leaders in several countries, we have been developing a new Chaplains Handbook and Chaplains Prayerbook. These are now completed and being finalized for printing. They will be used to assist with the training of police chaplains, prison chaplains and military chaplains in a number of countries in Africa. Faith Under Fire in Sudan Another major project has been the expansion and complete revision of our bestselling Faith Under Fire in Sudan book. At this stage the book is 312 pages with over 200 photos. We have selected the pictures for this book from over many thousands of pictures taken by our teams and hundreds of historical pictures that we gleaned from archives. The book has already been endorsed by a number of major Christian leaders worldwide. The first edition of Faith Under Fire in Sudan in 1996 quickly sold out. Another 5000 copies of a much expanded second edition also sold out within the year. There have been many requests for us to revise and reprint this landmark book. Frontline Fellowship undertook more than 70 missions into Sudan. I personally led 27 mission trips into Sudan. I conducted well over 1200 meetings inside Sudan. Courage Amidst Persecution Faith Under Fire In Sudan is the only book to comprehensively deal with the courageous Christian testimonies of Sudanese believers suffering some of the worst persecution at the hands of Islamic Jihad. Most of the book consists of first hand eye witness testimonies. It is a most positive and inspiring book which focuses on Christian courage and incredible church growth amidst some of the worst persecution imaginable. It is also packed with invaluable information, insights and contact details to assist churches and missions which want to work in Sudan. Practical Discipleship I am also at this time finalizing the third in our Discipleship series which began with Putting Feet to Your Faith and Discipleship Handbook. Practical Discipleship is designed to empower Christians to go further and higher in their adventure of discipleship. Please Continue to Pray for Christopher Christopher continues to enjoy greater health, appetite and energy than ever before since his kidney transplant 2 December. However, he has been in and out of Red Cross Hospital and has just gone through his eighth anesthetic and operation since 2 December. Now, as his createnine levels are rising they are planning a ninth operation. As you can imagine, he has seen enough of the inside of hospitals to last him a lifetime. He has also had more than enough needles stuck into him. Yet this ongoing rollercoaster seems to be part of the procedure for kidney transplanted patients. Today I admitted him for yet another surgical procedure. Please do continue to lift up Christopher for full and complete healing. Prayer is a Priority Please continue to pray for our ongoing mission outreaches, writing and printing projects and evangelistic and discipleship programmes. We are most grateful for your prayers, encouragement and support. May the Lord continue to be your joy and strength Yours for the fulfillment of the Great Commission Dr. Peter Hammond Director Frontline Fellowship P O Box 74 Newlands 7725 Cape Town South Africa Tel: 021 689-4480 [email protected]
