Lex Libertas Hosts the Future of Nations Conference in Pretoria.
Article by Dr. Peter Hammond By God's grace, I have returned from an inspiring event in the Transvaal, the Future of Nations Conference attracted participants from as far afield as Hungary, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Cyprus, Orania, the Cape of Good Hope and the United States of America. The event began at the inspiring and imposing historic Voortrekker Monument on Tuesday the 24th of February.
The Lex Libertas Future of Nations Conference (FNC) convened on Wednesday the 25th of February as an international policy and ideas conference focused on the Future of Political Order in a Changing World, with particular emphasis on self-governance, Self-determination, autonomy, decentralisation, and the role of nations and communities. Hosted by Lex Libertas, a South Africa–based think tank and advocacy group with growing international reach, the conference brought together policymakers, intellectuals, political leaders, entrepreneurs, media personalities and civil activists from different regions to explore practical and principled alternatives to the destructive policy ideas that sprout from governance models divorced from social, cultural, and economic realities.
Speakers included: Stefano Forte, President of The New York Young Republican Club (NYYRC), Jaco Kleynhans head of International Liaisons, Solidarity, Tom Van Grieken, Leader of Flaams Belang in Belgium, Dr Christoph Von Asch, President of the South African Tyrolian Friendship Association, Prof Koos Malan, Constitutional Jurist and author, Rob Herzov, Entrepreneur, Prince Mashele, Political analyst, Zoltan Koskovics, Geopolitical analyst from the Centre for Fundamental Rights, Advocate Mia Du Plessis from the High Court in Cape Town and Dr Ernst Roets, the executive director of Lex Libertas, the convener of the event. I had the privilege of opening up the conference with Scripture and Prayer and representing the Cape of Good Hope with an opening message: Let My People Go! My summary of the presentations and panel discussions:
Speakers focused on sovereignty, identity and freedom, the clash of civilizations confronting us, the battle between those who want to save and preserve civilization and those who seemed determined to destroy Civilization. The state is not to be confused with a nation the state is not the architect of nations. A nation is an ethnolinguistic people group with a shared faith. Some speakers described a nation as collective memory, culture and Community. The state is not the architect of a nation. States are often detached from reality. Borders are never permanent. Throughout history borders have changed dramatically, for example the borders of the babylonian empire, the Persian Empire, the Greek empire and the Roman Empire. Also, the British Empire which once ruled 1/4 of the world's land surface and population now can barely protect their own borders of England itself! We need to reject the globalists assertion that borders are fixed! Many of the borders we are burdened with in Africa were determined by foreigners in the Berlin conference of 1885, often using rulers and pencils imposing arbitrary boundaries without regard to ethnolinguistic realities on the ground. The result has been countless wars and unnecessary suffering and oppression. The solution in many cases is to redraw the boundaries, such as we achieved with the secession of South Sudan. Somaliland needs to be supported as a successful example of self-determination, succeeding from the chaos of a failed state in Somalia. The English speakers of Cameroon also need support as they are suffering under the predominantly French section of Cameroon. The Congo is far too large a state and needs to be subdivided into workable sections that recognise ethnolinguistic realities and allow self-determination for the people who are now suffering from the failures of a very centralized system that fails to meet the basic needs of their far-flung populations. Similarly, the arbitrary borders imposed by the British on the Union of South Africa in 1910, have forced very diverse nations into an increasingly centralized state that threatens the basic freedoms of its diverse peoples. We need to build momentum for a better world where borders serve people instead of people being forced to serve borders! Governments are Meant to protect and serve its citizens. A government that hates you and a government that once to steal your land, and glamorises killing you is not your government! Self-hate destroys nations. Do not swallow the lies of the media. Be resilient. You need to answer the question: who are we? Return to your roots. Return to God. Restore your work ethic. What makes a nation? Not a state, nor a constitution. People make a nation. Nations are built by pioneers, fathers and mothers, farmers, builders, architects, poets and musicians, authors and visionaries. We need to return to God and recommit to our Lord Jesus Christ. We need to reject those who reject our God and who reject our culture and people. Do not complain and whine. Plan, Build. Be the Boer! Be the pioneer, get married, raise large families, take control over your own future. Build a better future for your children and grandchildren. Our children need Security and Skills, a Strong work ethic and a Strong faith. Democracy needs to be decentralized. In many cases private institutions have stepped in where the government has failed. Private schools and home schooling because state schools are failing. Private security companies because the state is failing to protect its own citizens. Private hospitals because state hospitals are failing. Private initiatives for electricity because the state Eskom electricity provider specializes in blackouts, power failures and what they like to call load shedding. Community improvement districts because the municipality fails to maintain basic services and standards. The private sector always outperforms the public sector. Decentralization is essential for freedom. Freedom flows from truth although the truth can also get you thrown into jail in communist hellholes like North Korea… or England! The globalist new world order is failing and falling, it is on life support and good riddance to the globalist new world disorder. We need to focus on solutions and focus on what we have in common rather than harping on differences. Use your brains: Think. Use your eyes: observe and do research. Use your hands and feet: Act. Do the work. Build. At the conclusion of the conference multiple parties and participants signed the Future of Nations Conference 2026 Declaration.
