On Monday the 9th of March, Uncle George Ochse,
finished his race on earth and entered eternity. " Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Psalm 116:15
Diamonds and the Pearl of Great Price
It was a privilege to hear Uncle George Ochse relate his dynamic testimony. Uncle George was a regular guest speaker at our Biblical Worldview Summits, and he would often be the first speaker of the event. Uncle George had worked in a very responsible position in the diamond mines. Over the years he had succeeded in stealing a large number of these valuable gems. He had a great house, impressive farm and a very comfortable lifestyle. Then he was converted and learnt about the importance of Restitution from Rev Erlo Stegen of KwaSizabantu Mission. Although Uncle George had not been caught and no longer worked for the mines, he went to the mine management and confessed his crime. Then he began the painful process of repaying everything he had stolen. Having discovered the Pearl of Great Price in the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, he rejected the ill-gotten diamonds and did all the restitution required to make right with his previous employers. So much so that they declined to prosecute! Restitution for Uncle George involved a lot of sacrifice—he lost his comfortable standard of living and ended up in a very small, rented house. As a result of his restitution and sacrificial lifestyle, he lost his wife and for a time even his children deserted him. Nevertheless, this brother continued to rejoice in the Lord and be a dynamic witness of the transforming grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Uncle George established the vibrant KSB Mission in the Western Cape, at Moreson near Malmesbury. Uncle George and I drove to various meetings throughout the Cape province where he enthusiastically presented the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and encouraged each of us to do whatever restitution we needed to. Peace with God is worth any price. Having experienced such Amazing Grace from our great God and Saviour, Uncle George exhibited the joy of the Lord and was wonderfully used by God to lead many to find freedom and peace with God through salvation in Christ. Many were the meetings when Uncle George would have a number of people stay behind for him to counsel and pray with. Uncle George was a very good friend of Frontline Fellowship, regularly attended the Reformation Society meetings and often spoke at our mission and lead in prayer at the March for Life to Parliament and the Life Chains. "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." 1 Corinthians 2:9
