Hunter & Andrea Combs - Family update

I recently read somewhere that time is not something that you can see, but is something that can only be represented by change. The sun rises and sets, just to do the same thing again, and again, and again. Time truly is not something that can be seen but is felt.

Friends, more than ever, I feel the passing of time. It is the way our son’s words have developed into almost coherent nouns and adjectives, and through the simple observation of our friends’ families growing in numbers every year. I feel it as the thermometer that marks the temperatures outside rises daily as we experience yet another brutally hot summer in Phoenix. I can also palpably feel the presence and passing of time as I turn the pages on my calendar that move closer and closer to 2017’s end, when our little family anticipates moving across the Atlantic to reside in my beloved hometown of Cape Town, South Africa.

In May, we closed a big chapter in our lives with Hunter as a student at Phoenix Seminary, as well as our official relationship with International Students Incorporated. Although our relationship with both of these incredible ministries will never truly end, in a way it marked the end of an era for us - and the start of a new one. It seems whenever one door closes, another one opens, and we are excitedly making our way through this one into another great adventure; our biggest one yet, we think.

We are expectant and excited for the ministry that lies ahead of us in Cape Town. The Cape has a diverse and growing population of 3.74 million people from Islamic, Hindu, Atheistic, Animistic, Christian, Catholic and other religious backgrounds. The opportunities are vast, and the need is great. We believe that God is calling us to work fervently to evangelize the lost, to equip leaders, and to exhort believers to join the glorious cause of reaching the nations for Christ. We feel a strong call from the Lord to focus our efforts on winning Muslims to Christ. However, we know our scope of ministry will also include many different aspects as we begin our full time work with Frontline Fellowship.

At our age, we have little experience with moving further than across town. So the very concept of moving, not only across the country, but across the Globe is slightly daunting to us. When I made my trek to Phoenix at 18-years-old, I only had a couple suitcases to worry about. Fast forward eight years later; we have a little more than several suitcases to concern ourselves with. We also have a home to sell, a container to arrange and pack, plane tickets to purchase, and visas to submit for review. In addition to these time consuming tasks, we will also have numerous farewells to wish, and this is the part I think we both dread the very most.

Here is the cool part, though: God has already thought of every single detail. He is in control. He just asks us to take this step of obedience in faith, and HE will guide our next steps. As we finalize and submit our visas, book our plane tickets, pack our possessions, and bid tearful adieus, we ask that you would pray for us. Your prayers mean so much more than we could ever convey to you.

Thank you for loving us and encouraging us as we prepare for this difficult and exciting phase in our family’s journey. We thank God for bringing you into our lives and are blessed to know you. Knowing you are covering us in prayer honestly means the world to us. We will keep you updated with the goings on and progress in our move.

With much love in Christ,

Hunter, Andrea, and Jeremy

"And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
.”
