Much worth can be gained in a study of the field—ants about their work, birds in joyous praise, flowers robed in all the spectrum, grass reaching to its Maker. The springtime across the Northern half of the globe sends such sweet reminders of the beauty of our God in this his footstool. Take courage in his providence, which takes time to work a blade of grass from darkness toward the sunlight, which shoots out some plants’ seeds only through fire, which sprouts new life from beds of decay. He may at times so work with you.
National Day of Prayer
The nations, however, still think it more fruitful to set this same footstool on the throne— demote the king, deify his creation, calling the shots themselves by whatever seems right at the time. California lawmakers, reconvening this week after nearly 2 months’ recess, are to decide whether certain sickening bills are to pass (namely regarding the gender revolt & abortion). As believers across America come together before the throne, praise God that he is exalted over all. Pray that this vain plotting would be dashed in pieces. Pray that he would turn stony hearts to himself, just as he has kindled your own heart in his warmth. Turn from any sin entangling you, & look at the brightness of his face. He is worthy!
“Jetlag” of Sorts
Though travel restrictions have postponed our trip to Sudan until later this year, my body still seems to think it’s somewhere overseas. Work in the pediatrics office has continued (Stateside), and the quarantine’s effect in lessening the number of in-office patients has provided an ideal time to do some needed remodeling at the office—much of which I ended up doing in the night watches to make it more usable during business hours. Having swung back at this point away from a nocturnal clock, I’ve had a rather strange jetlag effect and am still a little lethargic, both physically & somewhat spiritually as well. Please pray that God would uncover whatever sin is at the root of the latter, that I would more enjoy time in his presence!
Please also keep praying for favor in partnering with other believers during this season before moving to Africa, and for wisdom in navigating tentative & shifting plans. I’m working to see if July’s trip to North Africa is still viable (to teach English), and do plan from August on to join Frontline Fellowship in more full-time ministry, helping to lead some of the cross-border teams. Yet all in our Father’s hands, who clothes us better than the lilies.
Clothed in Christ himself,
Dan de Villiers
