CONGO RIVER MISSION

CLICK BELOW TO SUPPORT THIS MISSION
Picture
Please Pray for our co-worker Johan, who comes from the South African Navy, in Congo, who HAS driven over challenging terrain, having travelled 5 274 km: "Arrived in Kisangani" (Kisangani was formerly named Stanleyville, located on the Congo River in the eastern part of the central Congo Basin in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It is the country's fifth most populous urban area, with an estimated population of 1,602,144 and the largest of the cities in the tropical jungle of Congo. Kisangani is located approximately 2,100 kilometres from the mouth of the Congo River, making it the farthest navigable point upstream. Henry Morton Stanley founded Kisangani as Stanley Falls Station in 1883.)

An estimated 18 million people are spread out in often very isolated villages in the Congo River basin. Their daily existence is desolate, and they desire more in life. The Congo River is very deep at places. It is a fast-flowing river up to 16 km wide in the rainy season.

The distance from Kisangani to Kinshasa is 1 734 km and there are 14 000 km of riverbanks to reach when the many tributaries are considered. River blindness caused by the black fly is prevalent and often goes untreated.

The Congo river basin is a most strategic and neglected mission field.

Johan has faced many challenges and is now preparing for the second phase of the mission trip and is need of much prayer and support.

Johan Meintjes is an associate missionary to Frontline mission for Congo River Mission. The Video shows the bringing of the Good News between Kisangani and Wanie-Rukula above the Wagenia Rapids (old Stanley Falls) in 2008.

The mission harbour at Yakusu and the medical and outreach riverboat & barge are still on paper as I pray for a larger international outreach co-operation for Congo River Mission between Kisangani and Kinshasa in the DR Congo (old Belgian Congo or Zair).

"And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
