“For we must all appear before the Judgement seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:10
Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii When the Apostle Paul was being transported as a prisoner to Rome , his ship docked to the south of Rome in the port city of Puteoli . Puteoli was a fashionable holiday resort with hot sulphur springs and many villas. Puteoli lay in the shadow of the great Vesuvius mountain. This rugged mountain was actually a volcano, but as it hadn’t erupted in a thousand years, it was considered dormant.

November 1986 Without a clear purpose and aim to inspire one’s actions a nation or a group perish. This is the message of Proverbs 29:18.
Do you have a vision of the world’s need? Before Isaiah could have a vision of God, he had to experience a vision of the evil that people do (Isaiah 5:8-6:8). Paul’s vision of the Lord included a vision of what the world outside of Christ really is — lost, blind, in darkness, under the power of Satan, bound, unforgiven, condemned and guilty (Acts 26:18). THE NEW TEN COMMANDMENTS (Humanists)
Humanists have not actually abolished the Ten Commandments. They’ve just replaced God’s Law with their own rules: When Professor John Wycliffe of Oxford University produced the first hand-written translation of the New Testament into English (in the 14 th Century), he wrote in the preface: “The Bible is given for the government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
American President, Abraham Lincoln, quoted from Wycliffe in his famous Gettysburg Address when he said: “that government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the face of the earth.” Lincoln also noted that: “The philosophy of the classroom will become the philosophy of the government in the next generation.” Many people labour under the delusion that the Bible has nothing to say concerning social structures, constitutional models or political affairs. However, while approximately 29% of the Bible deals with spiritual matters and our personal lives, 71% of the Bible deals with social, political and national issues. Luke 6:26 It is interesting how, in spite of all the warnings in Scripture against gossip, slander, and tale bearing, just how much stock we tend to place in people's opinions. It is said that where there is smoke there is fire. However, the smoke may be no more than dust and hot air. As Mark Twain observed: "A lie can travel halfway across the world while truth is still getting its boots on!" The great Baptist preacher, C.H. Spurgeon, warned: "Believe not half you hear; repeat not half you believe. When you hear an evil report, halve it, then quarter it, and say nothing about the rest of it." The great Reformer, John Calvin, declared: "No greater injury can be inflicted upon men than to ruin their reputation." Thomas Brooks taught: "Of all the members in the body, there is none so serviceable to Satan as the tongue." THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD
The Bible itself teaches its divine origin and authority: · That "No prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophets’ own interpretation." 2 Peter 1:20 · That all Scripture was written as "Men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." 2 Peter 1:21 · That "God Spoke . . . through the prophets . . . and by His Son." Hebrews 1:1-2 · That "All Scripture is God-breathed." 2 Timothy 3:16 · The Word of God, once given and written, is exact in all details down to each letter and stroke of the pen. Matthew 5:18 · That "The Scripture cannot be broken." John 10:35 · That "The Word of the Lord stands forever." 1 Peter 1:25 Is Revival the desire of your heart? Do you long to see the churches and communities in South Africa revived and restored to a God honouring condition?
"Restore us, O God Almighty; make Your face shine upon us, that we may be saved." Psalm 80:7 Are you praying for a great spiritual awakening that will change our cities and our country? Is it your prayer that God may be honoured and glorified in all areas of life? "Oh that You would rend the heavens and come down, . . . come down to make Your Name known to Your enemies and cause the nations to quake before You!" Isaiah 64:1-2 Duncan Campbell of the Hebrides revival observed that: "Revival is not churches filled with people, but people filled with God." Jonathan Edwards described revival as "a special season of mercy." Volume 1 1994 “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the Word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” Revelation 12:11
Over the last 12 years of ministering in Mozambique, Angola, Romania, Albania and other countries where severe persecution has raged has taught me that it is possible not only to survive persecution - but to thrive in spite of it. The more we build these principles into our lives, the better prepared we will be to triumph amidst tribulation. "Take your part in SUFFERING, as a loyal soldier of Christ Jesus." 2 Timothy 2.3
“EVERYONE who wants to live a godly life in union with Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” 2 Timothy 3:12 “We are OFTEN troubled, but not crushed; sometimes in doubt, but never in despair; there are many enemies, but we are never without a friend; and though badly hurt at times, we are not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:8.9 “It was to this that God called you, for Christ Himself SUFFERED for you, and left you an example that you should follow in His steps.” 1 Peter 2:21 Volume 1 1991 It is no longer just primitive tribes that are involved in idolatry, ancestor worship and superstitions. Missionaries are not only confronted with witchcraft in the jungles but also in the cities. It is not only in the third world that one finds child sacrifice and cannibalism — it is becoming prevalent in the West as well.
“For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.” Romans 1:21 Western civilization has moved from the age of reason to non-reason, from scepticism to mysticism, from disbelief in the Bible to gullible acceptance of every idle fad, theory and ideology. |
