“Sing to the Lord all the earth, proclaim the Good News of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.” 1 Chronicles 16:23
Dear Friends and Family
Thank you for praying for Abrie’s recent Mission to the Nuba Mountains of Sudan (visit www.frontlinemissionsa.org for reports and pictures) and for us as a family. This mission was especially significant, as Abrie, Ben, Daniel and John had the privilege of distributing the largest shipment of Bibles and books ever delivered in an officially Islamic country. By God’s Grace, your prayers and support made this mission possible. You can listen to Abrie’s interview on Frontline Fellowship’s From the Frontline Podcast for testimonies and prayer requests.Thank you also for how you have prayed for and supported us in our local outreaches in this first half of the year.
Bibles and Books for Sudan
We praise God for this opportunity to distribute 40,000 Bibles and 50,000 Story of Jesus picture books throughout this beleaguered region of the 10/40 Window. We were also able to deliver and distribute: 20,000 note books; 2,000 copies of Faith Under Fire in Sudan; 2,000 copies of Chaplains Handbook; 2,000 copies of Biblical Principles for Africa and 2,000 copies of Greatest Century of Missions books, to schools, churches and Bible colleges throughout the Nuba Mountains region of Sudan. Last year, our team had the privilege of distributing the largest shipment of Bibles (arranged by Ben) ever to be delivered in an officially Islamic country to that date. This year, we had the privilege of distributing an even larger shipment, training pastors and teachers and encouraging our brothers and sisters in Christ who have been suffering for the sake of the Gospel. God protected us over the tens of thousands of kilometres travelled by air and road to complete this mission. Thank you, this mission would not have been possible without your sacrificial giving and prayers.
On the Frontline
The Nuba Mountains region of Sudan is an island of Christianity in a sea of Islam. Black Christians in Sudan have been systematically targeted through terror bombings of churches and schools, poisoning of wells and an on-going war of over 65 years (since 1955). The Sudan People’s Liberation Army - Nuba (SPLA-N) have resiliently fought to maintain their freedom.
Uganda for Christ
“Then I will sprinkle clean water on you and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My Statutes and you will keep My judgments and do them.” Ezekiel 36:25-27
Dear Friends and Family
Thank you for praying for Abrie’s recent Mission to Uganda (see his report below) and for us as a family. Thank you especially for how you have prayed for and supported us during 2018. We are eternally grateful for your kind and generous support.
2018 was a whirlwind of activity and a difficult year of adjusting to life as parents, yet it was our most blessed year yet! I meant to send a newsletter in December, but an opportunity to house sit and Christmas celebrations occupied my time during the holidays.
Gospel Power and Proclamation
By God’s Grace, I have returned safely from a month-long Mission to Uganda. For the first two weeks, I had the privilege of participating in a School of Evangelism, held near Entebbe, arranged by Professor Henry Krabbendam and Rev Al Baker from the Presbyterian Evangelistic Fellowship in the USA. Dr Krabbendam has been organising and lecturing at these Evangelism Conferences in this area for more than 30 years. A group of 28 trainee Evangelists from all over North and South America also participated in this School. Dr Krabbendam and Rev Al Baker lectured on Biblical Evangelism and Discipleship, particularly hammering home the doctrines of the Depravity of man, the Holiness of God and the three-fold Gospel of Regeneration, Justification and Sanctification.
Africa Reformation Overland Mission 2018
We praise God for His provision and protection over the fifteen thousand kilometres travelled, ministering throughout Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Namibia and Swaziland. Thank you to all those who prayed for our Africa Reformation Overland Mission team (Daniel, Tobie, Talita, Alieske and myself) and made this mission financially possible. In total, we conducted 117 meetings, which included preaching at 8 Sunday services, 19 outreaches (which included 3 outreaches at Old Age Homes, 3 Jesus film screenings, 3 school meetings, 6 street outreaches and 4 open-air preaching outreaches in market places) and 37 children’s meetings.
Please Pray for Abrie’s Upcoming Africa Reformation Overland Mission
In mid-August, Abrie, Daniel, Tobie and Alieske will be embarking on a seven-country Africa Overland Mission to Zambia, Swaziland, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana, and Namibia. Ulrich Zwingli brought Switzerland back to the Bible through expository preaching - by preaching verse by verse through the New Testament, starting in Matthew one, verse one on the first of January 1519. As next year is the 500th anniversary of the launch of the Swiss Reformation by Reformer Ulrich Zwingli, our team will be particularly focussing on conducting Biblical Preaching Workshops for pastors. Abrie and Daniel will be teaching them practically how to interpret the Bible in context, and preach expositionally. He will challenge them to preach through the entire Gospel of John to their congregation and will help get them started with resources to do this.
Dear Friends and Family
God’s Gracious Provision
In our last newsletter (July 2018), we asked you to pray that Abrie’s boss of the Phoenix Security Company that he works two days a week for, would be gracious to allow him to continue working after his upcoming 6 week mission. He has said Abrie will be welcome to! People from our church have also been so generous towards us. We were recently given a big packet of second-hand baby clothes (this is in addition to many other new and second-hand baby clothes we were given before Emma was born) and a box of nappies. We praise God for His gracious provision for our family in small and large ways.
Dear friends and family
How are you? By God’s grace, the three of us are well. Thank you for praying for us, especially for Frontline Fellowship’s recent mission to the Nuba mountains of Sudan. The team was able to distribute over 32 000 Bibles - the largest shipment of Bibles ever smuggled into an officially Islamic country. Thank you especially to those who made this mission financially possible. We are excited to report back on many answers to prayer and family news.
By God’s grace and in answer to prayer, Ben was able to negotiate incredible logistical challenges and have the container of 40 000 Bibles and 50 000 Story of Jesus Christ story booklets successfully delivered to the Nuba Mountains. The purpose of our mission was to carefully distribute the Bibles to pastors, teachers, military personnel and school children. We were able to distribute 32 000 of these Bibles and 43 000 of the booklets throughout the Nuba mountains of Sudan. We praise God for His protection over the many thousands of kilometres of flying and driving in dangerous areas. Thank you to all who made it financially possible and for praying for us.
