The Facebook censorship industrial complex has deplatformed me and deactivated most of our 30 Facebook pages.

I was told that I apparently violated their community standards! Whatever that means.
Truth is hate to those who hate the Truth!

Just in 2025 alone, our Frontline Facebook pages reached over Two million people with thousands of likes, comments and shares.

Our Wonderful Wildlife page alone had over 10,000 Followers and reached more than 50 million people, with over 1,000,000 interactions (comments, likes and shares) in just one year!

Yet these pages, including the very popular Gospel Defence League, Dr David Livingstone, Reformation500 and Greatest Century of Reformation pages have also been deactivated!

Flame Lily Foundation Cape of Good Hope was a very popular page reaching on average over 1,000,000 people each year. Some posts had extraordinary engagement with thousands of likes, comments and shares. Yet this page for Rhodesians has also been deactivated and deleted! So, the globalists were not content with stealing and destroying our country, they even had to suppress our memories and social media platform Communications with Rhodesians worldwide.

Facebook further informed me that I am not allowed to appeal their decision which is permanent! Despite every attempt to reregister I have been blocked and denied every access to Facebook, which means I cannot even see pictures, videos and comments which people send me to view. It is like somebody burning a whole lot of your photo albums and shredding or tearing up filing cabinets of correspondence. My personal page had over 4400 friends and followers, many in other parts of the world with whom I have no other means of communication. There was not even an opportunity to warn them of my removal or communicate an alternative means of correspondence.

Globalist Censorship Throttling Conservative and Christian Content Online and Stifling Free Speech on Social Media
In the First week of this year, January 2026 I was abruptly deplatformed from Facebook and a number of the Mission’s social media pages were also deactivated simultaneously.
These Arbitrary actions have impacted our ministry, by severely limiting our social media reach, removing numerous positive platforms and pages which were receiving significant interaction.

The Digital Marketplace
Back in 2011 one of our people gave a midweek Devotions message on the importance of social media. Having engaged in door-to-door Evangelism and open air ministry, I immediately recognized the challenge and opportunity of utilizing these social media platforms for evangelism and discipleship. Social media today it's like the marketplace where we used to have open air evangelism. There were immediate enthusiastic responses to a number of social media initiatives which I launched, including: Back to the Bible, Vikings for Christ, Dr David Livingstone, Reformer Ulrich Zwingli, We Love God's Animals and the Greatest Century of Missions.

The Rise of Online Censorship and the Social Media Thought Police.
Then after the Brexit referendum in Britain and the Trump Revolution in the United States 2016 elections, there was a noticeable increase of online censorship. Evidently those who had designed and set up Facebook had not anticipated that these platforms could be used to be an alternative and reaction to the mainstream media propaganda narrative! Please share selfies and pictures of your Starbucks cappuccino or salad burger, but do not interfere with elections and oppose the globalist agenda! Then during the 2020 masquerade madness, lockdown lunacy and the salvation by vaccination Covid cult, online censorship went into Overdrive. As many questioned the globalist narrative and opposed the tyrannical repression of basic freedoms in the name of countering a pandemic, literally millions of posts were deleted and countless people were deplatformed. Mark Zuckerberg even admitted before Congress that he had been approached by the CIA to suppress and Remove views that questioned the Covid narrative and admitted to mass online censorship of dissenting opinions. They set up algorithms that would recognize and throttle unwanted online content.

Since 2016 we have regularly experienced temporary shadow banning’s. But on this occasion, there is no time limit to this ruling. We have also been denied the opportunity to appeal their censorship ruling.
There was no attempt to explain what if anything we are meant to change or do differently in order to be allowed back on to the social media platforms. Is this an isolated incident, how many others are facing these draconian measures?

Thought Police Deactivate and Deplatform Dissent.
The 1984 Thought Police are deactivating and Deplatforming those who violate their community standards. This seems somewhat Orwellian. George Orwell warned of a Ministry of Truth (MiniTruth) censoring free speech in his prophetic 1984 book, where the Ministry of Truth deals in lies and propaganda, the Ministry of peace deals with war, the Ministry of Plenty deals with rationing and scarcity and the Ministry of Love engages in torture. Those found guilty of Thought Crimes by MiniTruth are unpersoned and disappear down the memory hole. Much like how our social media censors today deplatform and deactivate those social media pages which violate their community standards!

Tucker Carlson has reported that four times more people were arrested for thought crimes and free speech violations in Great Britain last year than in the whole of Russia, which is in the middle of a war and has a vastly larger population!

There was a time when most people, especially liberals, campaigned against censorship and insisted that free speech is absolutely essential for a free society. What has happened that censorship and stifling of free speech has become so commonplace and pervasive?

We would recommend that you Stand up and speak out against this intolerance and violation of our freedom of speech and freedom of conscience. Having one's opinions shut down and deleted by arbitrary thought police and online censors is unacceptable.

Pioneer Missionary Hudson Taylor declared:
“God’s work, done God’s way, will never lack God’s supply.”

The Will of God Will Never Lead You Where the Grace of God Cannot Keep You
Hudson Taylor not only pioneered the first Inter-denominational Mission Society, but the first Faith Mission in history. Convinced that “God’s servant is God’s responsibility” and that “The will of God will never lead you where the Grace of God cannot keep you”, Hudson Taylor determined not to engage in fundraising, but to concentrate on the Mission God had entrusted him with.

Faith Alone
44 Years ago, as God laid the vision of launching Frontline Fellowship upon my heart, I determined to follow the example of Hudson Taylor in launching Frontline Fellowship as a Faith Mission.

Born in Prayer
This was during all-night prayer meetings in our military base. We were praying our way through Operation World, particularly praying for our neighbouring countries: Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Angola. These were the, so-called, Frontline states. At that time they were at war with South Africa and supporting revolutionary groups which were coming across the border into South Africa and South West Africa, laying landmines in roads, placing limpet mines in shops, restaurants and railway stations and car bombs in public streets. They were coming at us with bombs and hate. We determined to go to them with Bibles and with the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Counter Cultural
Most Christian ministries seemed to make a major emphasis on money and fundraising. We determined to go the other direction. There is nothing wrong with taking up an offering to cover ministry expenses. However, I have never taken up an offering in the 33 years of our Mission, Frontline Fellowship. Others may have taken up some offerings on our behalf and we are grateful for that, but we have never required, or requested, it. Nor have we, as a Mission, engaged in such direct fund raising.

Faith Mission
Despite conducting speaking tours in 38 countries on 4 continents, I have never required speakers fees. “Freely you have received, freely, freely give.” Neither have I taken any royalties from any of the books I have written and published. All proceeds go directly into the Mission. Everything that has been accomplished in, and through, our Mission over the last 44 years has been entirely due to God’s grace alone.

Hospital Christian Fellowship
Some have asked how any individual can live without a salary and a visible source of income. Or how any organisation can operate without fundraisers. Francis Grim, the Founder of Hospital Christian Fellowship International, taught me how to live by Faith. When he issued me the call to join his ministry in Kempton Park, I was in Cape Town, 1,400 km away. Having already been living and ministering by Faith for some months, I no longer had so much as a Rand to my name. I had to trust the Lord for the train fare to reach Kempton Park. When Uncle Francis sent me on a country wide tour to visit all the Christian bookshops and promote Heart Publishers materials, I needed to do so by hitch hiking.

On A Wing and A Prayer
In the early years of this Mission, I hitch hiked over 140,000 km. On one occasion I had to get from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth in less than a day. Knowing that that was virtually impossible by hitch hiking, I went to Lanseria Airport and asked the control tower if they knew of any aircraft flying through to Port Elizabeth that day. Incredibly a new helicopter was to be delivered to PE. When I explained my dilemma to the pilot, he cheerfully offered me a free ride! So in a matter of hours I was able to travel in comfort and style to my speaking engagement in the Eastern Cape. All this hitch hiking gave me opportunities to witness to hundreds of motorists (and a few pilots) and to distribute Gospel literature very widely.

On the Road
When setting off on my first mission to Mozambique, funds were so low that I did not actually have sufficient means to purchase enough fuel to reach Mozambique. At a petrol station at King Williams Town, the owner of the fuel station came out and asked questions about the Christian stickers on my heavily laden off-road motor bike and what I was doing. I explained my Mission to Mozambique and after he filled my tank, he informed me that it was “on the house” and no payment was necessary!

Times of Testing
Things don’t always go quite that easily, of course. On one Mission to Mozambique via Zambia and Malawi, funds were so tight that I would not have been able to reach even Johannesburg without the books that I sold at a church meeting in Bloemfontein, en route. The books sold in Pretoria, helped me purchase fuel to go all the way through Zambia to Malawi and Mozambique. On the way back, however, I needed to sell my spare running shoes and our spare tyre, in order to have the fuel to get back home.

Diseases in the Field
Of course missionaries often have to face diseases and other afflictions in the field, oftentimes malaria, sometimes bilharzia, on other occasions we have needed to trust God for healing from scorpion bites.

Our Obligation to Stay Out of Debt
In 1992, as we celebrated 10 years of Frontline Fellowship, I needed to sell our personal vehicle to settle printing bills for the mission. That was a testing time as my young wife and youngest child now had no vehicle. My only vehicle was a motorbike. It is a Biblical principle to owe no man anything (Romans 13:8.)

Missions to Europe
The first two times I received invitations to minister in Europe, I received extraordinary encouragement, (and essential provision) when, just before my departure, I went past our post office box and found an envelope sent by a supporter, Rev Erlo Stegen, with hundreds of Deutschmark in the letter! As there was no way that he could have known of my impending Mission to Germany and Eastern Europe, the timing was incredible. This happened twice. At no other times did I receive DMark in the mail, except on those occasions that I was en route there.

Hitchhiking in East Africa
When the wars in Mozambique and Angola came to an end, in 1994, the holocaust in Rwanda erupted. I knew that I had to go there, but there was no way that we had sufficient funds for an air ticket to East Africa. I investigated and found out that I had sufficient frequent flyer miles to earn a free air ticket to Nairobi. Through missionary contacts and correspondents in the area I was able to get into Rwanda and hitch hike with hundreds of Bibles into South Sudan. There I made contact with the persecuted Church.

Macedonian Call
That is when Rev. Kenneth Baringwa tracked me down and gave me the Macedonian call: “You must come to Moruland!” But how could I do so? The distances were so vast. The expenses were impossible for our little Mission. We trusted the Lord for the resources to drive overland to Sudan. But then many of the areas we needed to reach were behind enemy lines. The Lord provided for an air charter and we smuggled 1,200 Bibles to a remote area in Western Equatoria. Incredibly, through the vision of a blind man, Brent Noebel, sufficient funds were then raised from Summit students for us to deliver over 300,000 Bibles and Christian books in 24 languages to 14 different regions of Sudan. I personally conducted 27 Missions behind Enemy lines in Sudan, which involvedover 1,200 services and meetings, training hundreds of pastors, teachers, chaplains and evangelists. All by Faith. Over the years, Frontline Fellowship conducted over 85 Missions into Sudan.

God Provides
Many ask: How is that possible? With the limited means at our disposal we attempt to do our very best to respond to the challenges and opportunities to fulfil the Great Commission in Africa. The books that we have published go a long way towards financing the fuel for Mission teams in the field. The cash received on overseas speaking tours from book sales and donations went directly to our field teams for fuel and other expenses on Africa overland missions. But most of our support has come in from prayer supporters of our Missions, Sending cheques, electronic transfers, direct deposits and handing us envelopes after a meeting. These were some of the means that the Lord has used to enable our Mission to go forward.

Livingstone House
When we were forced to leave our previous mission headquarters, the Lord guided us to this new property, it was another opportunity to trust God for the provision. The bank was willing to give us 100% loan, to be repaid over 30 years. I knew that that was not wise and determined to trust the Lord for 20% of the total cost up front for the deposit. This confirmed for us that this acquisition was of the Lord. Then we trusted the Lord for the ability to pay back 80% of the cost over 20 years, instead of the 30 years offered by the bank. A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into trusting the Lord for the provision to pay for this strategic mission property.

The Upper Room extension project
For many years we struggled with the limited space and looked forward to being able to expand upwards in an attic conversion project to provide more space for a multi-purpose hall and for more accommodation bedrooms and shower facilities for guests and a recording studio. When my wife, Lenora, inherited a large sum from her parents, she did not hesitate to donate it all to the mission to fund the Livingstone House Upper Room extension project.

Investing Life Savings into the Mission
In recent years as our mission has suffered some serious attacks, including the freezing of our bank accounts, hacking of our websites and Internet communications, shadow banning, censorship and throttling of our online social media platforms, harassment by government departments and character assassination attempts to undermine our support base, I have had to pour more and more of my personal life savings into the missions banking account to enable us to print what needs to be printed, repair what needs to be repaired, Buy the fuel necessary for our vehicles and purchase the food needed to provide suitable hospitality for guests. God is no man's debtor. When we invest in God's Kingdom we can trust him to care for our personal needs.

Africa Overland by Faith
An Overland Mission to Sudan, in 2011, was another example of how the Lord requires us to step out in Faith. First I was led to donate our offroad 4WD bakkie/pick up truck to another mission, before the Lord provided us with another more suitable 4 wheel drive vehicle. Then it was only after we had fully equipped and packed and loaded our vehicle and the team was already on the road to Sudan, that funds came in from supporters of the Mission to enable the team to reach their destination. God just loves to be trusted.

The Cloud by Day and the Pillar of Fire by Night
The children of Israel learned to follow the presence of God as it was manifested by the pillar of fire by night and the pillar of cloud by day. Just as the children of Israel were required to step into the River Jordan before the Lord parted the waters, we need to be responsive to the still small voice of God’s Holy Spirit. We need to stand up, step out and launch out in Faith.

We are determined not to be deterred by the dangers, diseases and risks involved in ministering in conflict areas. We trust God alone for His provision, protection, guidance and blessing.

Iranian & Red Chinese Naval forces in False Bay & Simonstown
Despite South Africa’s official position of being neutral and “non-aligned”, Naval vessels from several BRICS nations have arrived in the coastal waters near Cape Town. Warships forming part of the BRICS+ maritime exercise reportedly include: the United Arab Emirates corvette, Bani Yas, Russian corvette, Stoikiy,equipped with an anti-submarine helicopter, and the oil tanker Yelnya, the Iranian corvette, Naghi , supported by the resupply vessel, Shahid Mahdavi and Chinese guided-missile destroyer, Tangshanwith the replenishment ship Taihu . Other participants such as the Ethiopian, Egyptian and Indonesian navies are serving as observers during the course of these Naval drills. The South African frigate, SAS Amatola is participating with the visiting warships in the naval exercises which are named “Will for Peace 2026,” the Drills are scheduled to run from 9 to 16 January. Brazil and India have been conspicuously absent from these joint naval drills.

Strategic Maritime Choke Point

Oceans of Opportunity
As our Mission is based in the busy port city of Cape Town, at what William Carey called, “the uttermost parts of the earth,” astride the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, we often find the mission fields come to us. Back in 1995, we had over 80 warships from many countries of the world gather for the 75th anniversary of the founding of the South African Navy. On that occasion, we were involved in open-air hymn services, Bible distribution, and personal evangelism with sailors as far afield as China, Pakistan, India, Chile, United States, Great Britain and Saudi Arabia. On this occasion we have made available Bibles in Farsi (The Persian language) and in Russian and Chinese for evangelists working amongst the Foreign sailors on shore leave. Having naval personnel from restricted access areas and even from some closed countries visit our shores provides a rare opportunity for evangelism.

Spectacular Church Growth
Despite much political instability, numerous wars and some severe persecution of the Church, There are over 730 million Christians in the continent of Africa and missiologists project that, present trends continuing, the numbers of Christians in Africa is set to double in the next 25 years. Operation World projects that there will be well over 1.4 Billion Christians in Africa by the year 2050. Considering that, back in 1841, when Dr David Livingstone began his ministry in Africa, there were less than 5 million Christians in the entire continent of Africa, that is phenomenal church growth!

"All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord and all the families of the nations shall worship before You. For the Kingdom is the Lord's and He rules over the nations."
Psalm 22:27-28

The Challenge of Africa
Amidst this unprecedented Explosion of Evangelism, the desperate need for Bibles and Bible teaching presents a crisis. Missions are failing to keep pace with the exponential growth. Only 150 million Bibles and New Testaments have been printed in, or transported to, Africa in the last 20 years. With the wear and tear of rural life, and with damp and dust, termites and travel, the average life expectancy for a Bible In Africa is less than 20 years. Therefore it is estimated that 500 million churchgoers in Africa do not yet have their own copy of a Bible, or even a New Testament! For example, it is calculated that 70% of the pastors in the Congo only have access to a New Testament, and do not yet have their own copy of a complete Bible. Most of the pastors in Africa have not had the opportunity of theological training, or even of a Bible college education. Few pastors in Africa would have a Study Bible or access to a library.

There is a desperate and urgent need for Bible teaching throughout Africa. We do not have enough Bible colleges and those colleges that exist need more Bible teaching textbooks and more Bible teachers.

"For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

Bibles for Africa
By God's grace, Frontline Fellowship has delivered and distributed hundreds of thousands of Bibles into Restricted Access Areas, such as Sudan. Over the last 22 years, our Literature for Africa ministry has succeeded in freely distributing over 200 tonnes of Bibles and books every year. However, in the light of the overwhelming need, it is barely scratching the surface. We need to dramatically increase Bible production and Bible distribution throughout Africa in order to ensure that every Christian has access to the Word of God in their own language.

"Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."
Colossians 3:16

The Greatness of the Great Commission
Our priority is to make disciples of every nation and to teach obedience to all things that the Lord has commanded. Please help us to provide sufficient Bibles and Bible teaching to the nations of Africa. By God's grace Africa could become the most Christian continent in the world, not only in terms of numbers of church members, but in terms of faithfulness to the Word of God. That is our vision and mission.

By God's grace, we were able to conduct a Christmas outreach at the Red Cross Children's Hospital in Rondebosch.This is the same hospital where my son Christopher received his kidney transplant 15 years ago in 2010.

but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11

By God's grace, we were able to conduct a Christmas outreach at the Red Cross Children's Hospital in Rondebosch.

This is the same hospital where my son Christopher received his kidney transplant 15 years ago in 2010.

Lenora's good friend, Jo-Anne donated a box of Born in Africa fluffy animals which we were able to present as gifts to the children still in the wards.

We also gave each child a Jesus Messiah Gospel comic book and a World Missionary Press Scripture booklet, God loves you, which includes many outline pictures which can be used for colouring in.

"So then Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Romans 10:17

We also distributed some chocolates and sweets. The children were delighted.

Parents were grateful and the nursing staff expressed appreciation that their patients were being remembered at this special time of the year.

The decisive election 2024 victory for President Donald Trump and the Make America Great Again MAGA Republican movement in the United States provides yet another example of how we cannot trust the mainstream secular media or their political polls, which are often no more than wishful thinking for the political left.

For months we have been subjected to psychological warfare propaganda tactics by the so-called mainstream/lamestream secular media. Kamala Harris Leads, Trump behind in the polls, this election is too close to call, but Harris is in the Lead…. Trump has no chance of winning… Trump falsely claims with no evidence… and hordes of other prejudicial fake news titles.

Donald Trump not only won most of the state electoral votes, but he decisively won the popular vote. Nor was the campaign that close as claimed: Donald Trump won more than 5 million more votes than the Democratic candidate!

Fake News Fails Yet again
Of course, the same media predicted an overwhelming landslide for Jimmy Carter in the 1980 elections, with Ronald Reagan having no chance of winning those decisive presidential elections!

Similarly, in the 2016 elections, all the polls and major news media predicted a comfortable win for Hillary Clinton and a less than 2% chance for Donald Trump to win. They were proved wrong in the past and they have been proved very wrong again in these recent elections. Evidently most of the mainstream/lamestream media is actually fake news and propaganda for the woke/LGBTQ/pro-abortion New World Disorder/perversion agenda.

What a Come Back!
This unprecedented political upset, only the second time in American history that a past president won a second non-consecutive term in office. (President Grover Cleveland lost his first re-election bid in 1888—then returned four years later to win back the White House.) President Donald Trump overcame unprecedented opposition to achieve this phenomenal achievement. He endured years of vicious character assassination campaign from the mass media, the Russia hoax scandal, impeachments, indictments, treachery from within his own staff, arrests, Lawfare court appearances and relentless harassment from the so-called department of justice as well as multiple assassination attempts.

Against all odds, and with the so-called government administration weaponizing it's justice system and law enforcement arms to seek to politically destroy its primary competitor and political opponent, even attempting to remove Donald Trump from the ballot in numerous states. Nevertheless, Donald Trump persevered, overcoming all obstacles to triumph at the ballot box, winning decisively even in all seven swing states. Under his inspiring leadership, the MAGA Republicans gained a majority in the Senate, and are on track to do so in the Congress as well.

Vindication
The 2024 American election results provide a vindication of Donald Trump and his policies. It also represents a loud and clear rejection of the incredibly corrupt Biden /Harris administration and their destructive policies.

The election results provide a conclusive rejection of the Woke agenda by the majority of citizens of the United States, who plainly have had enough of the intolerant and intrusive LGBTQ cult and its perverse agenda to inflict males pretending to be women into women's sports, allowing men to hijack women's sports, males to invade women's locker rooms and changing rooms, promoting perversion in the classroom and persecuting and prosecuting those who make a stand to protect their daughters from abuse. It is also a vote against promoting and fuelling endless destructive wars overseas.

The Silent Majority are Silent No More.
The hardworking middle class have had enough of over taxation by a government who seems to care more about illegal aliens than their own citizens and taxpayers. The election 2024 also represents a great roar of disapproval, disgust and determination to end the Biden administration’s corruption and treasonous destruction of America's economy, border integrity, freedom of conscience and freedom of speech.

Clearly it also represents a rejection of the state promotion of DEI and CRT along with the self-destructive Open Borders which have flooded the country with millions of illegal aliens and many thousands of dangerous criminals and probably terrorists as well.

Endorsements that Actually Matter and Those That Do Not
The shameful treatment of Robert F Kennedy jr. by the Democratic Party, which refused to adhere to the democratic principles they give lip service to by arbitrarily selecting Kamala Harris, who could not even win any support for her candidacy in the primaries, The DNC forced Mr. Kennedy, a lifelong Democrat, to run as an Independent, as he could see that the Democratic Party was no longer the party of freedom of speech or freedom of conscience but has been hijacked by the radical left.

As the Democratic Party is plainly unrecognizable from the party his uncle President John F Kennedy or Father Robert Kennedy belonged to and represented, Robert F Kennedy was forced to leave the Democratic Party. When he saw that his third-party candidacy could actually serve the nefarious cause of Kamala Harris and those pulling the strings behind her, he gave his endorsement to President Donald Trump calling on his supporters to vote Trump and Republican in the elections 2024.

This bold and unprecedented gesture undoubtedly persuaded many traditional Democrats to switch to voting for the Trump MAGA Republican movement.

The endorsements of popular talk show hosts Tucker Carlson, Joe Rogan and Megyn Kelly and innovative businessman Elon Musk, also doubtless swung many more votes behind Donald Trump.

On the other hand, Hollywood celebrities such as Robert De Niro, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Kate Perry, Harrison Ford and others do not seem to have helped Kamala Harris at all! Who cares what actors in the Hollywood blasphemy industry think about politics? As for Taylor Swift, many of her songs are about making bad choices.

Now she can compose another song about this bad choice!

Questions about the 2020 Elections Integrity
The 2020 elections attributed an unprecedented and frankly unbelievable 81 million votes to Joe Biden, who had barely even attempted to campaign.

The seven swing states which were easily won by Donald Trump in this election, were given to Joe Biden in 2020 amidst widespread controversy over excessive mail in ballots, many of which appeared in drop boxes after voting had officially ceased. At the time it seemed very suspiciously like ballot trafficking and ballot stuffing.

Now we need to ask where are those extra 20 million votes that swayed the 2020 election? Hopefully there will be some real investigations into the irregularities of 2020. How many people have died as a result of the disastrous policies of the Biden/Harris administration? The disastrous war in Ukraine and the catastrophic retreat from Afghanistan just being a few examples of the Biden administration's foreign policy legacy.

The Power of Positive Thinking and Perseverance
Donald Trump spoke at over 900 rallies since he announced his candidacy in 2015. Many of the crowds at these rallies were enormous, filling football stadiums and packing out large convention centres.

How did Donald Trump, who is in his 70s, continue to maintain such a gruelling schedule, despite constant media attacks, ridicule and harassment and in the face of real threats, both by a weaponized justice system and assassination attempts? One clue to his incredible resilience, comes from his pastor Norman Vincent Peale and the book he authored The Power of Positive Thinking which Donald Trump, his father and his grandfather read and referenced time and again. Donald Trump certainly seems to be exhibit A of what Norman Vincent Peale wrote and spoke of in the Power of Positive Thinking. Every cloud has a silver lining. Focus on the silver lining. Keep free of fear, hate and worry. Be generous. Think of others. Visualize victory. Aim at success. Never give up. Never give in. Persevere. No matter what, keep pushing on.

Donald Trump is an inspiring example of resilience and perseverance, an encouragement to us to never give in and never give up, to persevere in faith and with grace. God has preserved your life for a reason and

Persevere in Prayer
We need to persevere in prayer for President Donald Trump, he will need all of the protection, guidance, wisdom and strength from almighty God for the daunting tasks ahead of him. May God protect him from bad advisors. He has four years of subversion, chaos and treason to confront and challenging tasks to fix what has been broken and undermined. We pray that God may enable him to bring some peace and sanity to American foreign affairs. May God enable him to bring a swift end to the disastrous war in Ukraine, peace to the Middle East and stability to the Far East.

“Therefore, I exhort first of all those supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. The question of why there is evil in the world was never discussed by the ancient philosophers of Egypt, Babylon, Persia, Greece or Rome. They were polytheists who had a pantheon of gods. Evil was the result of conflicts between the gods. For example, the historical account of the war on Troy was reported by the Greeks to be the result of jealousy and rivalry between three goddesses.

However, with the understanding of a Holy and loving God, which was a Hebrew concept revealed through the prophets of Israel, the question of how there could be evil in the world began to be discussed. The book of Job is the oldest Theodicy that we know of. A Theodicy is a defence of the justice of God in the light of evil in the world.

How can evil and suffering exist when God
is all powerful and all good?

Sin and Suffering
The friends of Job had a legalistic explanation that the reason Job was suffering so terribly was because he must be guilty of terrible sin. God severely rebuked these false counsellors and vindicated Job as a blameless man targeted by satan.

When the disciples saw a man who was blind from birth, they asked Jesus:
“Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

Jesus answered,
“Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.” John 9:1–3

The Fall

Suffering and evil are a result of the Fall. God made a good and perfect world. Before Adam and Eve chose to disobey God and give in to the temptation of Satan, the world was without pain, suffering and death. Evil came into the world as a result of mankind’s rebellion against the Creator.

All of Creation continues to suffer as a result of the sinfulness of human beings. Pain, disease, sorrow and death are the terrible consequences of human wickedness.

False Religions

We can also say that false religions cause most of the suffering in the world today:

Animism, witchcraft, or voodooism has produced terrified, superstitious followers who have engaged in ritual killings, cannibalism and cruelty. Witchdoctors have routinely blamed individuals for natural disasters such as a bolt of lightning striking a hut, or a death by disease. With the drums playing and the witchdoctor swaying, in a trance, he will identify some poor innocent soul as responsible for any given event. That person would then be forced to jump off a high cliff, drink poison, be fed to crocodiles, or clubbed to death. In many parts of Africa young girls have been forced to have their front teeth sawn off by the witchdoctor as part of their “beautification” ceremonies. In one area that I know of the most beautiful girl in the district would be sacrificed to the crocodile god! Poor people have frequently sacrificed their last chicken to ancestral spirits, instead of providing nourishment to their starving children. There is no doubt that animism causes untold suffering.

Hinduism has produced idolatrous followers who have engaged in infanticide, widow burning and the burning of lepers. Missionary William Carey documented how widows as young as eleven years old were burned alive on the funeral pyre of their husband. On one occasion over thirty widows of one man were burned alive at the cremation of their deceased husband. Lepers would be burned in order to ensure “a better reincarnation!” Many mothers sacrificed their children by throwing them into the Mother Ganges River to be eaten by crocodiles. Because of Hinduism’s belief in reincarnation, rats may not be killed. It would take a train five thousand kilometres long to haul the grain eaten by Indian rats in single year. And Hindu temples contain vast fortunes of gold, rubies, sapphires and other precious stones in their statues, which are worshipped as idols. It is actually Hinduism’s reincarnation beliefs, protected rats, idols made of gold and jewels, wasted resources and superstitions that are causing much of the poverty and starvation in that country.

Islam has produced callous males who abuse females, engage in polygamy, slavery, slave raids, kidnapping, terrorism and suicide bombing.

Communism has produced commissars and comrades who have slaughtered tens of millions of people in the gulags and killing fields, in the name of freedom. Marxists have oppressed and impoverished millions more under their dictatorships, in the name of liberation.

Socialism has impoverished countless countries and eroded economies, in the name of uplifting the poor.

Secular humanist education is producing increasingly selfish, shallow, stupid and superficial socialists.

Ideas and Actions Have Consequences

All suffering ultimately is a result of mankind’s sin and rebellion against Almighty God. Suffering is intrinsically related to the Fall. There was no suffering prior to sin. Suffering in this world is part of the complex of God’s judgment on the world. Everything has consequences.

Sexual sin often leads to sexually transmitted diseases, herpes, gonorrhoea, AIDS, etc. Gambling often leads to poverty and bankruptcy. Adultery often leads to divorce. Gossip separates friends.

Our selfishness hurts others. Lies lead to bondage. Selfishness, cowardice, pride, greed, envy and hate cause untold suffering and pain. Passivity and neutrality cause even more suffering. Inactivity and a heartless refusal to get involved compounds the problem. “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing."

But why do the Innocent Suffer?

We all have personally seen many examples of this principle of what a man sows that shall he reap. However, we also know many cases of people suffering as a result of no fault of their own.

So, many people ask:
Why do bad things happen to good people?

Many are innocent victims of other people’s unrighteous behaviour. Yet the Christian, confident in the Sovereignty of God, can declare:

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

What You Meant for Evil God Used for Good

In the book of Genesis, we read of the treachery of Joseph’s brothers selling him to slave traders. For twelve years Joseph suffered unjustly as a slave and as a prisoner in Egypt. Yet God raised him to being the Governor of Egypt to save the lives of millions from starvation. Later Joseph could declare to his brothers:
“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.” Genesis 50:20

No One is Good Except God Alone

Of course, we could point out that no one is really good, not in the light of a Holy God as revealed in His Law.
“As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one; there is none that understands; there is none that seeks after God. They have all turned aside; they have together become unprofitable; there is none who does good, no, not one. …For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:10–23

Instead of asking why do bad things happen to good people we should rather ask: why do so many good things happen to bad people? We generally receive much better than we deserve. God is most patient and gracious.

Why Did Jesus Suffer?

Another question which we should ask: Why did Jesus Christ have to suffer? He was the only truly good and righteous person who ever lived. Yet Jesus was misunderstood, slandered, falsely accused and lied about, hated and betrayed. He was forsaken by His followers, unjustly arrested, illegally tried and wrongly condemned. Jesus was mocked, beaten, whipped, insulted, slapped and crucified. Why did the Righteous One have to suffer? He suffered on behalf of us, He died for our sins. The just in the place of the unjust
(1 Peter 3:18).

Love in Action

God is compassionate. He entered into this world and suffered everything that we have suffered, and much more. He even experienced the wrath of hell, so that we would not have to. During His ministry on earth our Lord Jesus gave sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, speech to the dumb, He made the crippled walk, cleansed the lepers, and even raised the dead.

The shortest verse in the Bible is: “Jesus wept” (John 11:35). The Bible tells us to weep with those who weep and laugh with those who laugh. Although Jesus was about to demonstrate His power to raise Lazarus from the dead, He was moved in Spirit and grieved over the suffering that His friends were going through. We do not serve a God who is unmoved by our afflictions.

Purpose in Pain

We need to recognise that there may be a purpose behind our pains. Yes, we may be the innocent victim of somebody else’s unrighteous behaviour. The Lord may also be chastising me for disobedience to His Word. The suffering could also be part of the suffering for righteousness which all Christians are called to. The Lord does send circumstances and people to help us develop our spiritual muscle and character.

“You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” 2 Timothy 2:3

Military training is designed to shape characters and teach skills to save lives.

“Yes, and all who desire to live Godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” 2 Timothy 3:12

“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the geniuses of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honour and glory at the Revelation of Jesus Christ …” 1 Peter 1:6–7

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James1:2–4

“Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial, which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His Glory is revealed, you will also be glad with exceeding joy.” 1 Peter 4:12–13

Suffering can be used by God to purify us and to prepare us for special service. All of God’s servants have known suffering while God purged and prepared them for His service. Moses was forty years in the wilderness before becoming the deliverer of Israel. David was an outlaw and a fugitive for many years before becoming king of Israel.

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18

As pioneer missionary, C.T. Studd declared: “If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him."

Search Me O God!

When we experience trials, we need to search our hearts to see if there are some wicked ways in us that could be grounds for God to be correcting us. This chastisement is designed to lead us to repentance and to full restoration of fellowship. Is there something God is saying to you? Is there an error of your life that needs sorting out? You may not know why you are suffering, but it is important that you respond in a Godly way.

“For to this you were called because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example that you should follow His steps.” 1 Peter 2:21

Serving the Suffering

Our Lord, Jesus Christ taught in the parable of The Good Samaritan that we are to love our neighbour by alleviating the suffering of others. For this reason, throughout the last 2,000 years, millions of Christians have been rescuing abandoned babies, adopting orphans, opposing abortion, founding and maintaining hospitals in all corners of the globe (even in the most remote and dangerous areas), providing emergency relief, assistance and projects to uplift the poor and the needy. Christians have steadfastly opposed the slave trade and slavery, abolished infanticide, widow burning and cannibalism. Feeding the hungry and launching missions to bring countless millions to Christ are just some of the many ways in which Christians throughout history have worked to reduce suffering worldwide.

The Worst Suffering Possible

We also need to consider what is the worst suffering imaginable? The answer is nothing that we will experience in this life. The most extreme pain and suffering will be experienced in an eternity in Hell, separated from God forever. The Bible clearly teaches that those who reject Christ will be cast into the Lake of Fire. Some people raise issues of suffering and evil in the world as some kind of theoretical smoke screen that they can use to reject the free gift of Salvation from Almighty God. We need to warn people about the reality of a Holy God, whose Laws we have violated, and of the very real danger of an eternity of regrets in Hell.

“...God…now commands all men everywhere to repent.” Acts17:30

Making Sense Out of Suffering

All suffering ultimately is a result of mankind’s rebellion against Almighty God. No one is sinless except Jesus Christ and He suffered so that we would not have to suffer eternally for our sins. There are no truly good people on the earth. We are all sinful in the light of God’s Law. We can learn and grow through suffering. Pain can yield positive results in our character development. What others mean for evil; God can use for good. God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Jesus Christ came and shared in human suffering—He suffered more than any man. We can, and we must, help alleviate the suffering of others. Human suffering is ultimately caused by human sin and God nailed that problem to the Cross almost two thousand years ago.

IS THE WORD OF GOD?

Some people see Christianity as some kind of intellectual suicide. A blind leap of faith.
However, Christianity is a reasonable Faith. It is based on incontrovertible, historical facts. Christianity is not a blind leap into the dark. It is an intelligent step into the light. There is nothing virtuous about gullibility. We are not proclaiming faith in faith. It is all too possible to be sincerely wrong. Our faith needs to be in the facts that God has revealed in Scripture and in Creation.

Any sceptical enquirer is to be commended for wanting to examine the foundations of our faith. And the Bible forms the solid foundation for our Faith. The Bible stands as the greatest Book ever written. It is unique in its circulation. The first book to ever be printed was the Bible. The Bible has been read by more people, and printed more times, than any other book in history. No other book has been translated into so many languages.

The Forbidden Book
It is unique in its survival. No other book has been so viciously attacked throughout history as the Bible. In AD300 the Roman emperor Diocletian ordered that every Bible be sought out and burned. He was determined to destroy Christianity by destroying the Scriptures it was founded on. Anyone caught with a Bible would be executed.

War Against God
Throughout history other tyrants have waged a war against God, seeking to annihilate the Christian Church. Just in the 20th century alone well over 60 million Christians were killed by atheistic regimes. Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin of the Soviet Union closed down or destroyed over 48,000 churches and imprisoned more than fifty million Russian Christians. Mao Tse Tung’s Marxist regime in Red China also sought to annihilate the Christian Church. Enver Hoxa declared Albania the first truly atheistic country in the world after closing every church and killing every minister in the country. Every Bible was destroyed, and people were imprisoned in labour camps for merely mentioning the Name of God. Samora Machel similarly attempted to turn Mozambique into the first truly atheistic country in Africa. Yet, despite the most extraordinary campaigns to destroy Bibles, the Bible has survived to continue to be the world’s Number One best-selling book of all time.

Unique
Despite the intensive campaigns over many centuries to destroy the Bible, there are still an incredible 24,000 manuscripts of the New Testament dating back to the time of the early church. By way of comparison there are only 7 manuscripts of Plato’s Tetralogies, 49 manuscripts of Aristotle’s Ode to Poetics, 8 copies of the Historian Herodotus writings. By these standards of antiquity, the Bible is in a class of its own. No other ancient writing has as many manuscripts, and certainly no other book has been so scrutinised and subjected to such critical analysis, and yet survived the most withering campaigns of criticism.

Impressive Credentials
The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in cliff top caves at Qumran, in 1949, provided manuscripts dating from the 3rd Century BC to the 1st Century AD. It included a complete book of Isaiah and thousands of fragments representing almost every other Old Testament book of the Bible. Students were astounded to find that the manuscripts and translations which we have available to us today were accurate and reliable in every way. The Bible, on any level you might wish to examine it, is the most impressively credentialed work of ancient literature.

Now, you may say, that’s all very well, but how can I know that the Bible is the Word of God?

A Critical Test
The Law of God sets up a litmus test for prophecy: “When a prophet speaks in the Name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen, or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.” Deuteronomy 18:22

Prophecy
It is a fact that, of the twenty-six books of the world, that either claim to be, or have been proclaimed to be, Scripture, the issue of specific prophecy is glaringly absent. You do not find specific prophecies concerning events, far in the future, in the writings of Buddha, Lao-Tsu, Confucius, or Muhammad. However, the Bible is absolutely unique in that, in the Old Testament alone, there are more than two thousand specific prophecies that have already been fulfilled. There has never been anything else in all of history to compare with the Bible’s prophecies.

You may say, weren’t they just lucky guesses, or vague generalities that could be interpreted in any way? Well, you be the judge. Consider these:

Egypt
At the time when Egypt was the greatest nation in all the world, the king of nations, the richest country on earth, Ezekiel prophesied: “There shall no longer be princes from the land of Egypt” (Ezekiel 30:13).

It is a fact of history that, until a few decades ago when the monarchy was overthrown, Egypt was always ruled by a prince, but during the 2,500 years since this prophecy was given, the princes of Egypt were never Egyptian. Their kings and queens have been Persians, Macedonians, Romans, Greeks, Arabs and Ottoman Turks. Egypt has even been ruled by the English. But since the prophecy, given through Ezekiel no Egyptian monarch has ruled over Egypt. When Egypt was the world’s superpower, no one would have predicted that.

Babylon
Iraq has been much in the news lately, so let us consider the Biblical prophecies concerning Babylon. The Bible contains over 100 specific prophecies concerning Babylon’s fate.

Babylon was not only the greatest empire in ancient times, its capital city was the greatest city in the world. The historian Herodotus recorded that the city consisted of 196 square miles of the most beautiful architecture, hanging gardens, palaces and temples. The walls were 15 miles long and 200 feet high. The towers were 300 feet high. The walls were 187 feet thick at the base. Every authority at the time would agree that the city of Babylon was impregnable.

Yet the Word of God came that: “The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken …it shall be desolate forever.” Jeremiah 51:58–62

Now, the Great Wall of China is not nearly as wide, nor as strong, as the walls of Babylon were, and although it is older it still stands today. The walls of Jerusalem still stand. But today there is no doubt that the walls of Babylon have been destroyed.

Determined to make this the capital of his worldwide empire, Alexander the Great decided that he would rebuild Babylon. Alexander issued 600,000 rations to his soldiers and ordered the rebuilding of the city of Babylon. Yet, Alexander died at the age of 32 and his enterprise of rebuilding Babylon was abandoned.

In the 4th Century AD, Julian the Apostate, who attempted to restore paganism to Rome was engaged in a war with the Persians. To prevent the Persians re-establishing the defenses of Babylon, Julian ordered the remnants of the wall of Babylon completely broken down. In this surprising way, one of Scriptures greatest antagonists of all time became the agent to fulfilling one of the clearest and most repeated prophecies in the Old Testament.

“Because of the wrath of the Lord it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate …it shall be no more inhabited forever.” Jeremiah 50:13, 39

Today the ruins of Babylon are a wilderness inhabited only by scorpions and snakes. Although the fertility of the lands around Babylon was legendary, today it is a barren desert.

Tyre
The city of Tyre was to the sea what Babylon was to the land. Tyre was the greatest port city in the ancient world. Yet, at the height of its power, God declared that this city would be destroyed, that its towers would be broken down, and that its stones and timber, and even its dust, would be laid in the midst of the water and it would become like the top of a rock, a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea (Ezekiel 26:4–14).

This very strange prophecy began to be fulfilled when Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon marched his army to the walls of Tyre and for 13 years besieged the city. When finally the walls of the city crumbled before the persistence of the Babylonians they found that many of the inhabitants had moved to an island half a mile out into the Mediterranean. There they built an even more impregnable city.
For hundreds of years one might have said that the prophecy given through Ezekiel was not completely fulfilled. Then Alexander the Great came, defeated the Persians and demanded the surrender of the port cities of the Eastern Mediterranean. Tyre alone refused to open its gates to him, so Alexander then conceived the boldest and most daring plan in siege history. He ordered a causeway built across half a mile of the Mediterranean Sea to the island of the new Tyre. All the walls of Tyre were torn down, the timber, the stones, the rubble and the logs and they were cast into the sea. They scraped the very dust of the city itself into the sea to make this highway to destroy the new island city of Tyre. In this way the prophecy in Ezekiel 26 was completely fulfilled.

Sidon
The prophecy against Sidon (Ezekiel 28:21–23) was that the inhabitants would be decimated, but the city would continue. History records that the city of Sidon was attacked, betrayed by its own king, and 40,000 of its inhabitants were killed. But the city of Sidon continues.

Samaria
The Scripture records a prophecy that Samaria, the capital of the Northern kingdom of Israel, would be destroyed, it would be turned into a vineyard and its foundations would be uncovered (Micah 1:5–6). In fact the walls of Samaria were cast down and today vineyards grow where once stood the capital of the Northern kingdom. Archaeologists have excavated to expose the foundations of the city.

Jerusalem
There were numerous other prophecies, that Jerusalem, the capital of the southern kingdom of Judah would be destroyed, its inhabitants carried away and its wall broken down (Jeremiah 24:9; 29:21; 35:17). There were further prophecies that the city and the walls would be rebuilt and the people would be brought back (Isaiah 4:3–6). History records that all of this indeed happened, as prophesied.

Petra
When Petra was one of the great cities of the ancient world, and Edom was a powerful nation, the Word of God came to Edom: “I am against thee, and I will stretch mine hand against you and I will make thee most desolate. I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord …I will make thee a perpetual desolation, and thy cities shall not return; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.” Ezekiel 35:3–4,9

To visit the desolate land that once was Edom, and the deserted ruins of Petra today it is hard to imagine the power and prestige that these places once had when the prophecy was given.

Incomparable
Those people who say that the Bible was just written by men are simply expressing their own ignorance on the subject. There is nothing comparable to the Bible in all the literature of the world. The power revealed through the Scriptures is none other than the power of God

“Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done.” Isaiah 46:9–10
