Mission to Zimbabwe Despite daunting obstacles and complications, our Mission team succeeded in delivering desperately needed Boxes of Love to destitute pensioners, Bibles and books to pastors, and conducted Leadership Training courses and Evangelistic Rallies throughout Zimbabwe. Way of the Master Despite power failures, shortages and all the complications caused by the Communist dictatorship of Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe, the Mission team conducted Evangelism Workshops training pastors, teachers, chaplains and Evangelists in Way of the Master and Evangelism Explosion. They then followed these up with Evangelistic outreaches, film evangelism, ministry in prisons and church services. Mission to South Sudan
Our Mission team to South Sudan persevered through heavy rains, mechanical breakdowns, malaria and fever to conduct over 140 lectures, sermons and outreaches in 7 different Diocese in South Sudan. This included film evangelism on 25 occasions, Biblical Worldview Seminars and Evangelism Workshops for pastors, teachers and Evangelists. They ministered at Primary and Secondary Schools, to soldiers of the SPLA, to patients at hospital, to Theological students and Bible College students, at pastors seminars and at a Let Your Light Shine conference. Christian Action Network Seminars Following the intensive series of services, outreaches and Leadership Training courses in South Sudan, the Frontline Mission team is conducting Biblical Worldview Seminars and Evangelistic Rallies for Christian Action Network members and contacts on the return Africa Overland Mission across eight nations. Outreaches in Cape Town The Mission staff have been involved in a number of outreaches and initiatives in Cape Town, including conducting a three-day Mission in the Mall in Paarl, where hundreds of Gospel leaflets and balloons with Gospel messages on them were distributed to shoppers, S.T.O.P. Trafficking demonstrations outside Parliament and a House of ill-repute. Hundreds of Gospel leaflets were distributed to passing motorists and numerous personal one-on-one Evangelistic conversations ensued with pedestrians passing by. Thousands of Gospel leaflets were distributed during the International Life Chain Sunday at the busiest crossroads in Cape Town – opposite the International Conference Centre and the entrance to the Waterfront. Working for Reformation In the run up to Reformation Day, I conducted special Reformation presentations at businessmen’s prayer breakfasts in Franschhoek and Constantia, conducted many interviews on Radio Tygerberg, Radio Khwezi and CCFM. We held special services and Reformation Society presentations on Ulrich Zwingli and the Reformation in Switzerland, and Dr. Martin Luther and the Reformation in Germany. On Reformation Day I led a large group of homeschoolers on a guided tour of the Huguenot Monument and Museum in Franschhoek. This was then followed by a Reformation Day service at the Huguenot Monument which we organized. Mobilising Prayer for the Persecuted From the beginning Frontline Fellowship has enthusiastically promoted the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. This year marks 19 years of mobilising congregations worldwide to observe the second Sunday in November as the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. This year we launched a website: www.idop-africa.org to especially focus on the needs, challenges and testimonies of persecuted Christians in Africa. JOY! Magazine gave a major emphasis to our articles and pictures on behalf of the persecuted church in their November edition. New Books By God’s grace, I have completed a number of long standing writing projects. Answering Skeptics Many pastors, chaplains and Evangelists have requested a book to help them answer the many challenges and attacks thrown at the Christian Church. The new Answering Skeptics book deals with such questions as: What About Hypocrites in the Church? How Can a Good God Allow Evil? Why Does God Not Stop All the Suffering? How Do You Know There is a God? Isn’t Religion Just a Crutch For the Weak? But Aren’t All Religions the Same? Does the Bible Really Teach the Doctrine of the Trinity? How Can I Know That Jesus is the Messiah? What Evidence is There That Jesus Rose from the Dead? How Can a Loving God Send Anyone to Hell? What About the Inquisition? If you have ever asked, or encountered, such questions, then this book is for you. God Among the Zulus Probably no man of God in South Africa since Andrew Murray has had such Revival blessings accompany his ministry as Rev. Erlo Stegen. After 12 years of intensive Evangelism throughout Zululand, Revival fires fell on the Mission of Rev. Erlo Stegen in 1966, resulting in spectacular conversions, healings and dramatic miracles, which transformed lives and launched dynamic ministries worldwide. Rev. Erlo Stegen began preaching the Gospel at age 16. This year he celebrates over 60 years of ministry. To mark this event, Frontline Fellowship has assisted Mrs Barbel Koch in reprinting Dr. Kurt Koch’s classic, and for far too long, out-of-print book: God Among the Zulus. Victorious Christians – Who Changed the World A major book which I have been busy on for many years is: Victorious Christians – Who Changed the World. I am convinced that one of the most important things we can do to inspire a new generation of dedicated Christians is to present them with the incredible examples of excellence provided by some of the most colourful and effective Christians in history. Victorious Christians includes 32 Character studies with over 260 pictures. The 380 page book now includes: 10 Reformers, 6 Martyrs, 6 Missionaries, 4 Evangelists, 4 Professors, 3 Soldiers, 2 Musicians, 2 Kings, 1 Artist, an Inventor, an Historian and a Queen. This book will provide fascinating insights to virtually every age of church history by focusing on the characters, their courage and convictions in times of crisis. Lavishly illustrated, this book can be used for recreational reading by those who enjoy reading biographies, or as a treasure trove of illustrations and examples for pastors, teachers and homeschoolers. We want to donate copies of this book to school and college libraries throughout Africa. As soon as funds allow we want to send it to the printers. Thank You We are most grateful for your prayers, for your encouragement and for your support. May the Lord abundantly bless and reward you for your thoughtfulness and generosity. Yours for the fulfillment of the Great Commission Dr. Peter Hammond Director Frontline Fellowship PO Box 74 Newlands, 7725, Cape Town, South Africa Tel: 021-689-4480 Fax: 021-685-5884 E-mail: [email protected]
