![]() Mission to Zambia Despite delays, disruptions, bureaucratic obstacle courses and logistical challenges, our mission team succeeded in delivering desperately needed supplies and Scriptural resources to pastors, missionaries and evangelists in Zambia. They conducted Biblical Exposition workshops, seminars and conferences in North-West Zambia, meeting with pastors and chiefs, who testified that they were discipled by Frontline Fellowship mission teams back in the 1980’s and 90’s. Bibles for Africa By God’s grace, through designated support, our team was able to purchase over $3000 worth of Bibles in indigenous languages, particularly in Chichewa and Bemba. These were greatly appreciated and received with much rejoicing. Covenant College Our team was also able to visit and see the development in Covenant College, which Frontline Fellowship established over 20 years ago. Evangelism and Discipleship While Daniel and Judah have been busy with Leadership Training and Church services, Alieska and Amieke have been conducting children’s ministries, school outreaches, women’s meetings and outreaches in the market places. ![]() Mission to Malawi Despite six hours to negotiate the border post bureaucracy and frequent road blocks throughout the country, our mission team conducted church services, seminars and conferences across the central African country. Muslim Mission Field The team reports back on the large Islamic presence and proliferation of mosques, madrassas and Islamic propagation centres. Therefore, our mission team conducted Muslim Evangelism workshops and delivered evangelistic and discipleship material particularly focused on reaching Muslims for Christ. Digital Libraries To aid in Muslim evangelism, our IT department has packed vast amounts of great resources, including in numerous languages, on SD cards and micro-SD cards, which are able to even be used in portable devices such as cell phones. Many Christian films, Bibles, audio Bibles, Discipleship teaching resources, books, pamphlets and audio-visual resources, are included on these 32-Gigabyte SD cards, which are ideal for ministry in Restricted Access Areas, such as the Muslim Middle East. These Digital Libraries have been entrusted to many evangelists, pastors and missionaries and our IT department is preparing a further consignment of 80 SD cards. Mission to Mozambique Please also pray for our team as they overcome restrictions and serious logistical challenges to minister throughout remote regions of Mozambique. The Northern provinces of Mozambique are under threat from Jihadist terrorists. ![]() Literature for Africa We praise God for another 20-foot container with approximately 18 tonnes of Bibles, books, Gospel literature and Sunday school materials, which arrived safely at our mission. Despite some delays, when the container was finally delivered, we were able to offload the 4,000 boxes and packages in under 3 hours. Thereafter, we sought to categorise, sort through and designate these valuable evangelistic and discipleship materials, to ensure that they reach those most in need, who will most appreciate, best use and apply these precious resources. Muslim Evangelism Please continue to pray for our Frontline mission teams involved in regular outreaches in Muslim communities near Cape Town. This involves door to door evangelism, literature distribution, Bible studies and counselling, in homes and in the street. Muslims that we have visited have asked for copies of the Bible and it has been a joy to provide them with resources in their own language. We have the privilege of befriending Muslims visiting from Restricted Access Areas and from closed countries in the Middle East. ![]() Resources for Restricted Access Regions For many years we have been smuggling hundreds of thousands of Bibles, New Testaments and Christians books into North Africa, to Restricted Access Areas in the Muslim world. Our Digital Libraries incorporate the Bible in Arabic and other local languages, both written and audio, the Jesus film in Arabic and other African languages, hundreds of Bible studies, including surveys of every book in the Bible, many more hundreds of lectures and discipleship resources, audio, video and powerpoint, as well as manuals, handbooks and much more. It is extraordinary how much can fit onto a 32-Gigabyte SD card or flash drive. You can freely access many of these resources on our William Carey Bible Institute website. Missions in the Malls and on the Streets Every year, since 1995, we have used the National Women’s Day public holiday as an opportunity to set up displays and literature tables in busy shopping malls and to interact with those passing by. This year we mobilised 75 volunteers in 12 teams to conduct outreaches in 7 shopping malls and at Stellenbosch University campus, in Worcester, in Greenmarket Square, on the Sea Point Promenade and at 3 busy traffic intersections. Collectively, we distributed thousands of Gospel booklets, leaflets, books, New Testaments and Bibles. This included World Missionary Press Gospel booklets in English, Afrikaans and Xhosa and over 2,500 tracts. Fifty-five Bibles and New Testaments were given to people that we had the joy of counselling and praying with on the streets. Radio and TV Ministry While distributing literature at a busy traffic intersection, a passing News Desk Africa TV crew stopped and interviewed me and some of our other team members. Every week I have numerous radio and TV interviews with programmes as far afield as the United States of America, Australia, England and the Netherlands. Life Chain Sunday - Harassed by Police We have been organising Life Chains in Cape Town since 1992. The first Sunday in October is International Life Chain Sunday. We use these opportunities to distribute thousands of Gospel booklets and evangelistic tracts to passing motorists and pedestrians. Many evangelistic conversations come about through these outreaches. This year we experienced serious harassment from the Cape Town Traffic Police, Metro Police and SAPS. ![]() Speaking Up for Those Who Cannot Speak for Themselves Much work, creativity, prayer and planning go into organising these outreaches at one of the busiest traffic intersections in Cape Town. Banners, posters and placards are designed; over 10,000 leaflets were printed and volunteers were mobilised to confront Capetonians with the facts concerning when life begins and what abortion is. Life begins at conception. Abortion is murder. Mass Literature Evangelism With 16 well-trained literature distributors, we can easily distribute 5,000 leaflets in an hour. We had hoped to be able to distribute between 8,000 to 10,000 leaflets and Gospel booklets during this 2-hour Life Chain. As motorists approached the traffic intersections, the colourful banners and posters and different people lining the roads with placards and posters always create interest. Drivers wound down their windows and eagerly received the literature we had to distribute, to understand more about the issue for which we are making a stand. “Does not wisdom cry aloud and understanding lift up her voice? She takes a stand at the top of the high hill, beside the way, where the paths meet, she cries out by the gate, at the entrance of the city, at the entrance of the doors.” Proverbs 8:1-3 ![]() Official Obstructionism After a freezing cold winter, we could not have asked for a more pleasant day for our Life Chain. There was no wind, no rain (and in Cape Town, wind and rain are fairly common), many people were arriving early and everything looked set for an excellent outreach. However, we were surprised to see a large police van already parked on the traffic island. There were also a surprising number of Metro Police and Traffic Police vehicles at the venue. You can read more about the confrontation and unprecedented harassment, which we experienced at this recent outreach. However, despite the harassment and interference, our team still managed to distribute over 2,700 leaflets and Gospel booklets before the Traffic Officer began to curtail this outreach. Deliver those who are drawn towards death and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, surely, we did not know this, does not He who weighs the heart consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render each man according to his deeds?” Proverbs 10:12 ![]() Mission to the Transvaal It was a joy and pleasure to be invited to KragDag from 14-16 October in the Transvaal. KragDag is an annual Expo held near Cullinan. Thousands of farmers participate in this event. I was invited to give a presentation on Resisting the Tyranny of the New Normal and Reclaiming our Freedoms, which you can view here. After this presentation, I took part in a panel discussion and spent the next 5 hours in constant conversations with participants, answering questions, giving counsel and hearing inspiring and heartrending testimonies from people whose lives have been affected. Our literature table was well supported. In addition to ministry at this farmers expo, I also had the opportunity of ministering at a House Church, preaching at a congregation in Pretoria on Sunday morning, and a number of TV interviews, including on the upcoming elections and the Biblical Issues Voters Guide. Home Education Fair Our Home Education Fair attracted over 100 visitors and there was fun and activity for the whole family, including: sword fighting, archery, air rifles, basketball, Kids’ Evangelism Explosion training, colouring in, jigsaw puzzles and other supervised children’s activities while parents viewed and supported the 18 different tables, including different arts and crafts, food and books on display. From 2:00 pm, the Variety Concert concluded the day of creativity, culinary delights and Christian culture. Winners of the Reformation Art & Essay competition were presented with prizes and we concluded with singing A Mighty Fortress is our God. There is no doubt that Home Education is flourishing in South Africa, producing young people with a Christian work ethic, a love for learning and tremendous creativity and talents in music and the arts. Soli Deo Gloria! ![]() Pray for Sudan After a couple of years of encouraging moves towards freedom in Sudan, the transitional government was dissolved on 25 October and an abrupt return to dictatorship under “a state of emergency” declared. To read my report on this Upheaval in Sudan, click here. Pray for the many Christians in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan who have enjoyed an unparalleled time of peace during which many schools have been built and churches rebuilt. Unless the Islamicists and Jihadists are frustrated in their attempts to return Sudan to Shari’a law, the Nuba Mountains could well experience a resurgence of hostile attacks. Mobilise Prayer for the Persecuted Please mobilise your congregation and prayer group to lift up our brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering persecution worldwide. For over 30 years we have been promoting the second Sunday in November as an International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted. Visit www.IDOP-Africa.org for resources, to mobilise prayer and action on behalf of those suffering for Christ. You can view our Missions to the Nuba Mountains of Sudan video here. Click here for the 3-minute video Remember the Persecuted, which you can share and show your friends, family, school and church as we approach the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted. “Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them, and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.” Hebrews 13:1 Pray for Lenora Please continue to pray for Lenora Hammond as she has, for over 11 years, battled cancer. Throughout this last year she has suffered almost constant pain and frequent nausea. We now have her on oxygen support and a combination of medications against nausea and pain. As Lenora wants to be home and around family, we are trying to care for her as best we can with advice from Hospice. Lenora takes comfort in having all 4 of our children and 3 grandchildren in our home. She lights up every time anyone of them comes into the room. ![]() Frontline – Behind Enemy Lines for Christ Much progress has been made on typesetting my biography, which covers many of the behind-the-scenes events involved in the epic saga of Frontline Fellowship serving persecuted Christians and evangelising in war-zones throughout Africa. By God’s grace, we plan to have it ready for the printer by mid-November and available before Christmas, and in time for the 40th Anniversary of Frontline Fellowship next year. It is our prayer that it will inspire a new generation to make Christ’s Great Commission their Supreme Ambition, even behind enemy lines, in Restricted Access Areas. Upcoming Events Please pray for the Home Education Expo this coming Saturday, 6 November and for a Remembrance Service that I am taking at Fish Hoek Methodist Church this Sunday, 7 November at 1:00 pm. On 11th November we will be having a Celebrating Rhodesia evening at the Reformation Society. Please also pray for our Biblical Worldview Summit (6 – 13 January 2022); the Great Commission Course (6-26 January 2022) and the March for Life on 1St February 2022. ![]() Africa Overland Missions Please continue to pray for our mission teams and aging fleet of vehicles. The needs are great and the opportunities to serve and strengthen churches under severe pressure are urgent. To respond to these opportunities effectively, we need an urgent infusion of funds. Our mission bank account is depleted and our aging vehicles need major repairs, or replacement. We also need more volunteers to join us in this incredible privilege of serving persecuted churches, evangelising in Restricted Access Areas and working for Reformation throughout Africa. Thank You Thank you very much for all our prayers, support and encouragement, without which none of our ministries would be possible. May God continue to be your joy and strength.
