![]() Africa Overland Mission to Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique We praise God for the safe return of our Africa Overland Mission team from a four-month mission across Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique. Despite tremendous logistical challenges and illness, including malaria and bilharzia, our mission team succeeded in delivering and distributing over 2 1/2 tons of Bibles and books and conducting over a hundred meetings, including Leadership training courses, seminars, conferences, services, school assemblies and outreaches. Despite delays, disruptions and bureaucratic obstacle courses, our mission team succeeded in delivering desperately needed supplies and Scriptural resources to pastors, missionaries and evangelists. They conducted Biblical Exposition workshops, seminars and conferences, meeting with pastors and chiefs who testified that they were first discipled by Frontline Fellowship mission teams back in the 1980’s and 90’s. “Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:2 ![]() Bibles for Africa By God’s grace, through designated support, our team was able to purchase over $3000 worth of Bibles in indigenous languages, including in Bemba, Chichewa, Kaonde, Lunda, Luvale, Makua, Tonga and Yao. There were areas where not even the pastors had a Bible, or a New Testament ! These Bibles were greatly appreciated and received with much rejoicing. Mission to Malawi Despite six hours to negotiate the border post bureaucracy and frequent road blocks throughout the country, our mission team conducted church services, seminars and conferences across the central African country. Another border crossing took two days. ![]() Muslim Mission Fields The team reported back on the large Islamic presence and proliferation of mosques, madrassas and Islamic propagation centres. Some areas were almost entirely Muslim. Therefore, our mission team conducted Muslim Evangelism workshops and delivered evangelistic and discipleship material particularly focused on reaching Muslims for Christ. “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15 ![]() Digital Libraries To aid in Muslim evangelism, our IT department packed vast amounts of great resources, including in numerous languages, on SD cards and micro-SD cards, which are able to even be used in portable devices such as cell phones. Many Christian films, Bibles, audio Bibles, Discipleship teaching resources, books, pamphlets and audio-visual resources, are included on these 32-Gigabyte SD cards, which are ideal for ministry in Restricted Access Areas, such as the Muslim Middle East. These Digital Libraries were entrusted to many evangelists, pastors and missionaries. Our IT department prepared further consignments of 80 and 60 SD cards for other missions. Mission to Mozambique Please also pray for our team as they overcome restrictions and serious logistical challenges to minister throughout remote regions of Mozambique. The Northern provinces of Mozambique are under threat from Jihadist terrorists. “Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them, and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.” Hebrews 13:1 ![]() Biblical Worldview Summit 2022 We praise God for a successful Biblical Worldview Summit. This year marked 31 years of conducting these BWS body, mind and spirit programmes, stretching minds and muscles. The BWS included: 6 devotions, 31 lectures, presentations, sermons and Bible studies (by 14 speakers), 6 Bible Drill sessions, 5 Just a Minute debating skills games, 3 films, 18 hours of practicals, sports, problem-solving, obstacle crossing teambuilding outdoor activities, 2 campfires, 4 outreaches, a Bible exam and a very enjoyable Variety Concert. Some of the written responses that we have received from participants of the Biblical Worldview Summit 2022:“It’s one amazing camp and I’m going to try and get my friends to join next time. They will learn a lot”; “Informative, uplifting and fun!”; “Great!”; “Well planned to quench the most hungry soul”; “I have realized again that I love Evangelism and working to extend God’s Kingdom. A fire has been kindled in my heart to do more for HIM and HIS Kingdom”; “I’m greatly impressed with the sound doctrines of the lectures”; “Made great friends and learned a lot about science and evangelism”; “I learned a lot about how to recognise deception in the world”; “I realized how I’ve been deceived and how I must read and get to Christians who are experts in their field to guide me. I must read the Bible to get the facts about the fields I was deceived in.”; “It focused my eyes on Jesus and true doctrine through words, singing and action. I rejoiced and drew closer to the Lord through the hymns and worship. It opened my eyes to the spiritual battle”; “Happily surprised by how fun I found it while being challenged”; “Packed with useful lectures and teambuilding activities”; “I enjoyed the fellowship a lot. Making new friends was special. The camp gives good fellowship opportunity.”; “It has been a great camp and working with others in Christ, BWS is a great platform”; “Wonderful youth participation. It gives hope for the future.” ![]() You can view some pictures of the camp and several of the lecture presentations on our Biblical Worldview Summit Facebook page: here You can view a video on the recent Biblical Worldview Summit: here. Through Information, Intercession and Involvement we seek to work for Biblical Reformation and pray for spiritual Revival. "Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?" Psalm 85:6 ![]() Official Harassment This year, our March for Life to Parliament experienced unprecedented harassment from the police. Africa Christian Action has always had an excellent relationship with the local police. With 31 years track record, they know that all ACA marches and protests are peaceful and constructive. We never even leave litter. In fact we generally pick up litter and clear the areas where we hold demonstrations, leaving the areas better than we found it. On only one occasion did our March for Life attract any South African police attention. It was the first anniversary of the legalisation of abortion in South Africa, 1st February 1998 and perhaps they did not know what to expect. We were amused to see armoured cars and riot police with shields standing in front of the gates of Parliament! We laughed and wondered what they expected from pro-lifers! As we sang our hymns and conducted the prayer vigil the Riot Police visibly relaxed. We had some friendly conversations with them after the service. ![]() Since 1998 we have not seen the SAPS at our marches. Generally only a couple of traffic police will escort our March for Life through traffic intersections. There have even been a few occasions when not even a single traffic officer was present and we negotiated the streets and traffic intersections on our own. This year however we were accosted by a large police contingent at our assembly point and I was warned by a police officer that I would be held personally, financially liable for any damage caused by our marchers! As I chuckled and pointed out that we have been conducting these marches for 25 years without ever causing any damage to property, in fact we pick up litter and leave the areas better than we found them, I was shouted at by one of the policewomen and told to listen to the instructions! (It would be nice if political parties such as the EFF were held accountable for the burning, looting and destruction left behind by many of their supporters.) There was also a police videographer and a photographer who tried to intimidate our people by filming and photographing everyone. On numerous occasions we were interrupted and harassed even while conducting prayers and readings at the service by the gates of Parliament. This was all so unusual and unnecessary. We have generally found the police friendly and supportive. I could only conclude that some politician had instructed these policemen to harass us on this occasion, just as we received unprecedented harassment at our last Life Chain in October. We encouraged all our participants to thank the police for their service. We know that they have a difficult job to do and political interference must complicate their lives immeasurably. "In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you . . ." Matthew 7:12 ![]() 25 years of Legalised Abortion in South Africa Legalised abortion is a national disgrace. Every year we lose more pre-born babies to abortion than the combined death toll of crime and car accidents. Since 1 February 1997, over 2,000,000 babies have been killed in South Africa, by abortion, mostly with taxpayers’ money. "They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons. They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters . . . the land was desecrated by their blood." Psalm 106:37-38 ![]() Sanctity Life Sunday For this reason, we challenged Christians who respect the Sanctity of Life to observe Sunday, 30 January as a day of Prayer and Repentance for the national sin of abortion. We made available Bible studies, sermons and other audio and visual resources to enable and empower Pastors throughout the country to preach on when life begins and what the Bible teaches on our Christian duty to love our neighbour, speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves and to rescue those being led away to death. We recorded numerous radio and TV programmes dealing with the right to life of preborn babies and the need to expose the abortion holocaust. We also conducted a Sanctity Life Sunday service which was live streamed. You can view our Sanctity Life Sunday sermon, God Hates the Hands that Shed Innocent Blood, here "If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 ![]() Rescue the Perishing For over thirty years Africa Christian Action has been vigorously standing for Faith and freedom, campaigning for Life and Liberty throughout South Africa. We have published many tracts in numerous languages, published many articles and books to inform, inspire and involve Christians to stand up, speak out and step out in faith for life and liberty. “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. Deliver those who are drawn toward death and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, ‘Surely we did not know this,’ does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?” Proverbs 24:10-12 ![]() March for Life 2022 Tuesday 1st of February 2022 marked the 25th anniversary of the legalisation of abortion on demand in South Africa. Every year, on the anniversary of this disastrous legislation, Africa Christian Action has organised the March for Life to parliament, followed with a Prayer vigil and Repentance service outside the gates of parliament. Our March for Life was in the form of a Funeral Procession, in which we walked through the centre of town to Parliament. In order to alert Capetonians to the reality of the abortion holocaust taking place in our land, Africa Christian Action dramatized the event by hiring a hearse to lead the procession which marched down Darling Street, past the Castle and City Hall, into Adderley Street, into Spin Street, then Plein Street to assemble outside the gates of Parliament. We dressed in black, carried little coffins, crosses, flowers, posters and banners for a greater impact to accentuate the need for national repentance. Placards at the March 4 Life proclaimed: “Abortion Kills Babies”; “Every Abortion Stops a Beating Heart"; “in God's Court Abortion is Murder"; “Abortion – the Ultimate Child Abuse"; “ a person is a person no matter how small"; “Abortion: One Heart Stops, Another Heart Breaks”; “Babies are a blessing” and “Choose Life! So that you and your children may Live.” ![]() Prayer Vigil at Parliament At the main gates of Parliament, Africa Christian Action led a Memorial Service prayer vigil. This included laying little coffins, crosses and flowers against the walls of Parliament in memory of the 2 million babies killed by abortion in South Africa since 1997. We sang the hymns: Who is on the Lord's Side? and Will your Anchor hold in the Storms of Life? A variety of pastors and Christian leaders prayed prayers of confession, repentance and imprecatory prayers from the Psalms. You can view photographs of our March for life and prayer vigil on the Africa Christian Action Facebook page: “Wisdom calls aloud outside; she raises her voice in the open squares. She cries out in the chief concourses, at the openings of the gates in the city she speaks her words…” Proverbs 1:20-22 ![]() Save Lives – Stop Abortions Special obituary notices, pictures, posters, audio and visual presentations were also posted on social media. We also provided tracts, posters and other resources for pro-lifers throughout Southern Africa to organise their own Pro-life Prayer Vigils, or demonstrations outside abortion clinics in their own city. You can access many of these pro-life resources on our website: https://www.christianaction.org.za/ "Could you men not keep watch with Me for one hour?" We prepared and sent another consignment of Digital Libraries in Arabic and other indigenous languages for this mission to the Nuba Mountain. We also sponsored audio Bibles for those who are illiterate or blind. These Mega Voice audio Bibles are compact, with solar panels, and are highly prized in the field. ![]() The number of blind people needing surgery was staggering. The team screened over 900 patients and performed successful surgeries on 135. Johan reported: “One father and son came from a village about 3 days walking distance. The father was completely blind, received eye surgery and can now see again! He was extremely grateful and they came specifically to show their appreciation. We gave audio Bibles mostly to patients who are completely blind and who we were sadly unable to help. We also gave the Bibles to families that come from very isolated and distant villages within the mountains. Many of the older people cannot read. ![]() “During one conversation, a man told us that he wanted to go home, call his friends and family and 'sacrifice' because he is so happy to see again. We could share with him that his dead ancestors (or the witchdoctors) had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he can see again; that we are here because of God's love towards them and that God, through Jesus Christ, sent us here; they should thank God, and Him alone, for the father's sight. They seemed to have accepted this and were so thankful to receive an audio Bible. We were also able to hand out 120 donated audio Bibles. The people were extremely appreciative of these precious gifts. ![]() “When I came from the local market area, a group of young girls passed and greeted me. They had one of the audio Bibles with them, playing loudly as they walked through the hospital grounds. One lady received surgery yesterday. She had been completely blind in both eyes. Her one eye is permanently damaged, so when she was able to see again (after removing her eye pad from surgery) she was overjoyed. She said she walked 5 hours from her village to get to where we are. After saying goodbye to them, they turned around at which time her son took her by the arm to lead her as he always did. She stopped him and in their local tongue, told him that he can now leave her as she can now walk by herself! They were both smiling and laughing as the gift of sight dawned on them. She told us that she was looking forward to seeing her grandchildren whom she had not yet seen, visiting her neighbours and doing normal daily tasks. We also gave her an audio Bible before they parted. We showed the family how the player works by playing some of the chapters and songs on it. With a huge a smile she, her son and another lady who also received cataract surgery, started singing with the Christian songs with joy. We also gave audio Bibles to men who walked 5 days to get to us to receive surgery.” “So shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 ![]() Responding to the Fire at Parliament and the Legacy of Archbishop Tutu The death of famous church leader, and icon of the New World Disorder, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, on 26 December and the burning of Parliament in Cape Town on 2 January required a series of articles, radio and TV interviews and presentations at the Reformation Society. Numerous Muslims have requested and received Bibles and some are participating in a regular Bible study. We recently led a week of prayer at a local church with the theme of To The Glory of God. Next week we are expecting another 20 foot, 18 tonne container shipment of Bibles, books and Sunday school materials for free distribution throughout Africa. The need for Gospel literature in Africa is intense. Over 100 million churchgoers in Africa are without a copy of the Bible, or even a New Testament. “Lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already ripe for harvest!” John 4:35 Hammond Family News My 62nd Birthday was marked with an 8 hour hike up and across Table Mountain, in sweltering heat. By God’s grace, we plan to have it ready for the printer and available in time for the 40th Anniversary of Frontline Fellowship crossing borders into war-torn Marxist Mozambique, in April 1982. It is our prayer that this book will inspire a new generation to make Christ’s Great Commission their Supreme Ambition, even behind enemy lines, in Restricted Access Areas. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.” Isaiah 43:2 ![]() A Macedonian Call Please also pray for more volunteers to join us in this incredible privilege and opportunity of serving persecuted churches, evangelising in Restricted Access Areas and working for Reformation throughout Africa. The needs are great and the opportunities to serve and strengthen churches under severe pressure, are urgent. “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the labourers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the Harvest to send out labourers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38 We are very grateful for your prayers, encouragement and support, without which none of our ministries would be possible.
