Cape of Storms
Cape Town is the only city in the world that sits astride two oceans. With the warm Indian Ocean and the Cold Atlantic meeting at Cape Point, our part of the world has long been known as the Cape of Storms. That was not particularly good for tourism so it was renamed the Cape of Good Hope. On 6th June, we were warned that a severe storm with anticipated wind speeds of up to 120km/hr would hit later that night. For the first time in my lifetime, all schools in the Cape Peninsula were ordered closed the next day, Wednesday 7 June, in anticipation of the severe storm. ![]() "I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His Kingdom: Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching." 2 Timothy 4:1-2 Duties and Responsibilities Chaplains’ have many serious and solemn duties and responsibilities. Chaplains are responsible for the Spiritual well-being of all in their unit. In the army, the chaplain is the pastor of the soldiers, non-commissioned officers and the officers, of all ranks. In the police, a chaplain cares for all the officers and constables. A prison chaplain cares not only for the prisoners, but also for the wardens. Hospital chaplains are responsible for the spiritual care for the patients and also of the medical staff. In addition, chaplains are frequently called upon to care for the families and relatives of those they are primarily responsible for. An Extraordinary Experience
The Creation Museum near Cincinnati in the United States is absolutely magnificent. Shortly after it opened, I spent two days exploring, examining and experiencing the Bible-affirming Creation Museum. It was not nearly enough time. I enjoyed visiting it again this month and exploring its new exhibits.
![]() Dear Friends Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. “Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His Name; make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing Psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy Name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord! Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore! Remember His marvellous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,” 1 Chronicles 16:8-12 Working for Reformation Today This was my fourth Mission in four months. We have been promoting 2017 as Reformation 500 for many years, actually, since my Mission to Europe in 2005, so it is understandable that we have received many invitations to conduct Reformation 500 conferences in so many countries. |
